TORONTO – Lee Byung-hun has become the first South Korean actor to receive the Special Tribute Award at the Toronto International Film Festival (Tiff), marking a milestone for South Korean cinema at the festival’s 50th anniversary celebration.
The award was presented to Lee Byung-hun on Sept 7 by South Korean director Park Chan-wook at the Tiff Tribute Awards gala held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Canada.

“I began my acting career 35 years ago in television dramas. But in my heart, I always had a love for film. This was a story I first heard from him more than 15 years ago. And finally, it’s being brought to life on screen,” Lee said of the project.

“I believe this is a story that must be seen, I hope to continue greeting audiences with films that you will have No Other Choice but to watch.” Lee said in English during his acceptance speech.

He posted a clip of his acceptance speech on his Instagram account on Sept 9.

Just four episodes into its run, “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” has already set a new tvN record for 2025!

On August 31, the new fantasy romance achieved the HIGHEST VIEWERSHIP RATINGS OF ANY tvN DRAMA IN 2025!
According to Nielsen Korea, the fourth episode of “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” broke into double-digit ratings and took first place in its time slot across all channels with a nationwide average of 11.1 percent.

“Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” was also the most-watched show in its time slot among the key demographic of viewers ages 20 to 49, with whom it earned an average nationwide rating of 4.5 percent.

However, “Bon Appétit, Your Majesty” wasn’t the only drama to soar to its highest ratings yet last night. KBS 2TV’s “Our Golden Days” hit a new all-time high of 15.9 percent, making it the most-watched program of any kind to air this weekend, while JTBC’s “Beyond the Bar” rose to 9.1 percent ahead of the final week of its run.

JTBC’s hit drama “Doctor Cha” has been confirmed for Season 2!

On September 1, a media outlet reported that “Doctor Cha” had kicked off preparations for the production of Season 2, reuniting its popular leads Uhm Jung Hwa and Kim Byung Chul.

In response to the report, Uhm Jung Hwa and Kim Byung Chul’s agency Alien Company confirmed, “Uhm Jung Hwa and Kim Byung Chul will star in Season 2 of ‘Doctor Cha.’”

Aired in 2023, “Doctor Cha” is a drama that follows the “ripped life stitches” of Cha Jung Sook (Uhm Jung Hwa), who transforms from a housewife of 20 years to a first year medical resident. The drama ended with its highest viewership, achieving an average nationwide viewership rating of 18.5 percent.

The upcoming drama “Confidence Queen” has unveiled new stills featuring Park Min Young and Joo Jong Hyuk!

A Korean adaptation of the 2018 Japanese comedy drama “The Confidence Man JP,” “Confidence Queen” follows three con artists with extraordinary talents as they pull off elaborate scams targeting villains from all walks of life.

Park Min Young stars as Yoon Yi Rang, a con artist with an IQ of 165 and a genius-level intellect in the top 1 percent. With her eccentric thinking and cold charisma, she leads the team in their intricate schemes.

Confidence Queen will premiere on September 6 at 9:10 p.m. KST.

Rowoon has finalized his new military enlistment date.

Back in July, FNC Entertainment revealed that Rowoon—who was originally scheduled to enlist as an active-duty soldier on July 21—received a Grade 7 notice during his pre-enlistment physical assessment, requiring a re-examination and delaying his enlistment. After undergoing a reassessment earlier this month, the agency has now confirmed that Rowoon will officially begin his service on October 27.

The upcoming action-hero drama “Twelve” has unveiled a captivating new character poster and stills of Park Hyung S*k!

Inspired by the 12 zodiac animals of the East, “Twelve” tells the story of 12 angels living in the human world in human form to protect the Korean Peninsula from evil spirits. Long ago, the angels barely managed to seal the forces of evil in the gates of hell through their sacrifice, bringing peace. However, with the evil spirits awakening, chaos returns.

Park Hyung S*k plays Ogui, a crow-powered figure who poses a serious threat to angels and the human world. After a battle with angels in the distant past, Ogui was sealed beyond the gates of hell. Thousands of years later, he is awakened by Sa Min (Kim Chan Hyung), who hungers for great power, and begins to cast darkness over the human world. Having lost his memories, he reunites with the 12 angels and is swept into a whirlwind of fate.

Twelve will premiere on August 23.

For me, it’s never been about ownership battles, it’s about celebrating the stories we all enjoy.
