Thank you for asking! And honestly, it’s a very good question. ❤️ I understand exactly what you mean… but wearing your own hair pulled back tightly all the time can definitely make the scalp sore too.

With Busola’s hair, the goal isn’t to keep it pulled back tightly. I try to keep her styles comfortable and I also use products to help with moisture, definition and manageability rather than using tension to control the hair.

The main reason I sometimes style her hair is because this way helps to keep the hair stretched, reduce daily manipulation and make it easier for to manage, especially with school and activities. But there’s definitely a balance. I don’t make her hair so tight that it causes pain, bumps, redness or discomfort.

And you’re absolutely right about letting it down more often too. All Hairs needs break from tension, regardless of hair type.

Thank you for asking this respectfully. I actually love questions like this because it gives me an opportunity to explain what we do rather than just showing the hairstyle. 🥰

If you’re washing your child’s natural hair and going straight to styling, stop scrolling 🥲

You might be making detangling harder than it needs to be. 😩

Shampoo helps cleans the hair not conditions it.

Conditioner helps make the hair easier to manage.

If you’re handling a curly or coily hair, conditioning can help with:

✔️ Softness
✔️ Slip during detangling
✔️ Manageability
✔️ Reducing the amount of pulling needed

And also makes detangling becomes easier…

Conditioner: Usually used after shampooing to improve manageability and provide slip.

💧 Leave-in/moisturizer: Used as part of your routine to help maintain moisture and make the hair easier to style.

Now tell me:
