I had a totally different day from what I planned, but you know what? I loved every bit of it because it ended up being so productive.
The plan was simple: make moi-moi after my 10km brisk walk, get dressed, and head to my office in Lekki 1 to restock our shelves with more food products. (Our storage facility isn’t the same as the pickup location. Yes— you can pick up your products free of charge from our office.) I digress.
When I got back from my walk, I turned on my gas cooker only to realize the gas had finished. (I had been waiting for this moment, but still…)
At that point, I had already mixed my beans flour (available on my website 😉) and blended it, so I tucked it into the fridge and headed out—in my running clothes—to refill my gas cylinder.
As I was heading out, a thought crossed my mind. Since I already had products in my car, I decided to drive to the office in Lekki 1 to restock first.
On my way back, I stopped by The Fish Shop to pick up a bag of Titus fish and got my gas refilled on the way home.
That was the point my day totally changed.
I completed the moi-moi process and cleaned and spiced some of the fish.
Then I noticed some bananas going off, so I grabbed my blender and made four bottles of my tigernut smoothie blend.
Genius move number two: I had a small bowl of blended tomato mix in the fridge, so I made a little pot of stew and added the fish.
Somewhere in between all that, I was reading a book—remember my previous post, “Suck but Don’t Skip”?
Right now, I have eight portions of moi-moi, four bottles of tigernut smoothie, and a bowl of stew.
Let’s just say I am going to bed really proud.
People often say they lose their appetite after cooking, but for me, it’s the total opposite.
I actually look forward to eating what I make. The smell during prep doesn’t take away from the excitement—it enhances it.
I think this is what it means to be the hero in your own story👏🏾🤣🤗
That’s it folks… Goodnight
