Recently, a popular musician name David Adeleke a.k.a Davido invited vicent otse martins popularly known as very darkman VDM to his wedding as a reception guest, but VDM sneaked into the ceremony by posing as Victor Osimhen’s Nigeria footballer bodyguard.
At the reception VDM was then seen on video being given a strict warning by Cubana Chief Priest to behave himself during and after the party, but what did he do?
As soon as he got back to his house, he took off his agbada, brought out his ring light, and began dragging Iyabo Ojo, claiming that she wasn’t invited to the wedding ceremony.
In the end it turned out that Ojo was actually invited to the ceremony which was set for 10:00am, while VDM was only invited to the reception which began at 5:00pm.
After suffering this public disgrace, he crawled back to his hole and laid low for a while.
Fast forward to May of this year, when VDM was arrested and detained by the EFCC, Davido came out to call for his release, chanting, “Free my guy”, on social media.
This leads me to ask the question: “Has VDM ever been Davido’s guy?
VDM hails from Edo state same as Davido’s aide, Isreal, and it was through Isreal that VDM eventually met Davido and they began relating. But while Davido admires VDM’s activism and has publicly supported him, VDM criticises everything Davido is and stands for as part of his advocacy.
The luxurious lifestyle, the extravagant spending, and the ostentatious and flamboyant doings.
And he expressed these sentiments two weeks ago when Davido purchased a brand new 2026 Mercedes-Maybach SL680 valued at N1.2 billion.
In the video that he’s now taken down from his Instagram page, VDM called out Davido, Burna Boy, and Wizkid for their excessive and unnecessary spending. He then questioned their patriotism and why they’re not actively giving back to Nigerians or at least to the places they come from: Davido - Osun state, Burna - Port Harcourt, and Wizkid - Surulere.
And because Davido is the one VDM has a personal relationship with, he went the hardest on the artist and doubled down in a follow-up video.
This is why I asked, if Davido is VDM’s guy as much as VDM is Davido’s guy.
Is VDM’s association with Davido borne out of genuine likeness or is he just using that proximity to leverage himself among the 1%?
We know that Davido isn’t particular about selecting who has access to him. The man will roll with anything and anyone. I mean just look at his track record with women. So no, I’m not surprised that he opened his doors for someone like VDM.
However, I must question Davido’s naïveté and his conviction that VDM genuinely likes him.
In my opinion, VDM doesn’t like him.
In fact, VDM hates Davido and deeply resents him for who he is: a man born with a silver spoon.
I have noticed that since VDM gained popularity on social media, one thing has always been obvious about him and that is his envy for the rich.
He loves to see the rich fall and he loves it even more when he’s the one to bring about that fall.
But more than anything, VDM wants to be a rich man.
