Fever can be caused by various factors, including infections (such as the flu, COVID-19, or urinary tract infections), inflammation, heat exhaustion, certain medications, and vaccinations. In most cases, fever is not harmful and can help the body fight off infections.

Symptoms accompanying fever might include sweating, chills, headache, muscle aches, dehydration, and weakness. In some cases, especially in children, fever can cause febrile seizures.

Treatment for fever generally involves addressing the underlying cause and may include rest, hydration, and over-the-counter medications like acetaminophen or ibuprofen to reduce temperature and relieve discomfort.
