We've been wired to always rush things but has taught us about patience
In Lagos, it's always to him that runneth and not to him that willeth. The winner is always the strongest and swiftest.
What can be done about our transportation system in Nigeria, especially Lagos?
After the pandemic, would we go back to the same struggles?
No keke, no bikes, long queues, OTrek geng, crazy traffic, your best dress or shirt tearing because of the struggle to get a bus or BRT, phone fishing...
Do we even want to go back to this struggle?

Our God is just too faithful to fail. I got home yesterday and I was lost in worship until about past 3am this morning. I was mesmerized by God's favour upon my life. I still can not comprehend it even as I type this.

Yesterday, I was given the speaker's tag ahead of the masterclass that we will be hosting tomorrow at this year's . I felt so emotional because I knew that this can only be God.
_

In 2018, we started and by God's grace, this had grown tremendously through our collective efforts. Who would have thought that will be hosting a masterclass at Africa's largest tech conference this year?
_
_
When we started this journey, we were being laughed at as being very unserious with what we wanted to do. Some people wanted me to come pay homage to them and lick their ass before they can “endorse” me. Because to them, I was “knew” in the industry and I didn't know anything. We still don't not claim to know everything... but we sha know something and the little we know has brought us this far.
_
_
A vision that was labeled dead or useless way back is now seen as a vibrant community of photographers where talents/brands wants to come from around the globe to get a piece of. PhotoWaka Africa is now also recognized as Africa's largest photo community.
_
_
We hope that we will be remembered for carrying the torch of African creatives... for never giving up even when they threw rocks at us. For everyone that has supported this vision from the inception, thank you for standing firm and believing in the dream. We are still very far away from the dream, but we know we are moving in the right direction.

Tomorrow, history will be made and I also want to specially use this opportunity to appreciate my mentors; Mrs and Mr for finding out time from their busy schedules to speak at this year's with me. I have always admired them and they are still one of the few people I drew inspiration from. So imagine me sharing the same stage with them 🙌🏽🙌🏽. Indeed it's a dream come true.

Imagine a world where females have equal rights and opportunities as their male counterparts in the photography industry.
Last year, we organized an intensive survey around the percentage of female to male in the photography industry in Africa. The result wasn't really encouraging at all (slide to checkout the results of our research).

Due to the disproportionate number of photographers in Africa, which are considerably men, we are set to train and empower 500 young females in photography (in 2020) through our initiative.
Photography shouldn’t still be considered a man’s world in this age and time, hence this 2020, one of our key focus is on empowering the female gender. We will be bridging the gender gap in the photography industry thereby addressing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 5 and 10, which are gender equality and reduced inequality respectively.
To implement , PhotoWaka Africa will organise intensive photography workshops for female beneficiaries across various locations. Furthermore, with support and partnership from organisations, we will provide donated cameras to these female beneficiaries, organise exhibitions, where these female beneficiaries can express their thoughts and creativity to the world, even as we launch them into the marketplace to create positive impacts in their various communities.

Yes, WE CRUSHED IT. A lot of people asked how we did it. Even the CNN Correspondent yesterday asked about and why we choose to do what we do. I just smiled because our successes aren't because of me.... it's a collective efforts. Thank God for the successful phot walk yesterday.

We partnered with to organize a photo walk across the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge with the aim of raising funds and awareness towards the global campaign for education.

This partnership and photo walk was aimed at sending 3000 children to school this year.

And yesterday, the project was a great success. The turnout was fantastic and the impact will be greatly felt.

As a photographer, we need to look beyond ourselves and think of ways we can contribute positively to our society.... even while still doing what we do. Today's partnership with was a great one indeed.

We are glad to announce that the photo walk in partnership with was a great success indeed. We converged at the Meadow Hall School in Lekki at exactly 7am and the walk officially kicked off by few minutes past 8am this morning.
The weather was very favorable even as we walked all the way (with our cameras, smartphones, and capturing some amazing sights) across the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge and back to our converging point.
Shoutout to everyone that made this photo walk a great success. This photo walk (an other activities that happened across the globe today) was set to raise more awareness around the global campaign for education. And as the largest photo community in Africa, we are proud to partner with in this huge project, even as we support 3000 kids to get access to quality education.

Myself and the Governor of the Lagos State Professional Photographers Association of Nigeria (LASPPAN) yesterday after my speaking session. Baba said they will have to call me back ooo 🤗.
After my speaking session yesterday, about half of the participants came to the back to meet me in person and expressed how I've literally awakened the sleeping giants in them.
There's more work to be done and we aren't relenting at all.

I'll be speaking at the Naija Photo Festival 2.0 tomorrow alongside other great personalities too.
The art of photography in Nigeria has since expanded to become the behemoth that it is today due to its acceptance as a PROFITABLE PROFESSION. But the truth is that photography in Nigeria is worth more a billion dollar industry and only those that are SMART ENOUGH will eat the fruits of the land.... praise the Lord sombori!
Yet, it would seem that professional photographers in Nigeria, despite the number of resources, are not getting the worth of their value. (Do I have a witness in the house?)

When God gave me this vision of , it wasn't really clear neither did I knew what i was doing initially. All I did was to say YES... and launched.
My entire life and that of is all about God intentionally making His name and glory to be seen. My life has been a mission to empower ordinary people, people like you and me, young creatives from Africa, to find their voice and make it heard in extraordinary ways. In my career as a photographer and visual storyteller, the one common denominator I see among young African creatives everywhere is the need to feel as though they have a voice... a self-determining voice that, if nothing else, put Africa in her rightful position. African creatives are hungry to create POSITIVE IMPACTS. They are looking for practical strategies.... they are looking for a COMMUNITY... and not just any community/family but an engaging community like PhotoWaka Africa, that understands their needs and language.
I'm still in awe of everything 🙌

As African creatives, we now need to fill up our platforms with narratives which truly communicates who we are from a place of strength. This in turn will inspire us first to see reasons to keep giving out value no matter what, and also to inspire the world.

One of which was PROJECT 500; which is to empower 500 females in photography. Apart from empowering them with the skills, we plan on providing the tools for them to work with.
