The Story of How Death Came to Existence
Long ago, in the days when the earth was still young, there was no such thing as death. People lived freely, moving about in villages and towns, without fear of an end. But in the heavens, a strict command was given: a lonely town needed people, and Mr. Death was sent to bring them there.
So, Mr. Death came down to a small village, roaming about in search of someone to follow him. He went from street to street, from farm to farm, yet no one agreed to go.
He met an old man and said, “Come with me, for your time has reached.” But the old man replied, “I am not ready. I still want to enjoy the company of my grandchildren. I cannot follow you.”
Mr. Death then met a young man, strong and vibrant. But the young man shook his head, “How can I follow you? I have not yet married, nor built my home. My time has not come.”
He met a young woman, and she too refused, saying, “I still have dreams to fulfill. I cannot go with you.”
Everywhere he turned, Mr. Death was rejected. Some said they were too old, others too young. Some claimed they were not ready, others laughed and disregarded his request.
Tired and frustrated, Mr. Death sat down and began to think. The command he was given was strict: “Bring someone, or face the consequences.” But no one would follow him willingly.
So he devised a plan. He made himself blind. From that moment, he no longer asked for permission. Instead, he walked through villages and towns, touching people at random. Whoever he touched would follow him to his lonely town.
And that is how death came into existence. Not because people willingly agreed, but because Mr. Death, in his blindness, began to take without asking. That is why today death comes in many forms—through sickness, accident, or sudden tragedy.
But remember this: it is never the will of God, our Creator, that His children should perish in sorrow. Sometimes He allows such trials to test our faith, just as He allowed Job to be tested. Those who remain steadfast, trusting in God through pain and loss, will inherit His abundance and eternal life.
Have you lost a loved one in one way or another? Hold firm to faith. For though Mr. Death takes, God gives eternal hope.
