ALONE WITH JESUS: IT IS FINISHED & THE ETERNAL GAINS OF THE CROSS

BIBLE TEXT

_John 19:30_
_"When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, 'It is finished,' and He bowed His head and gave up His spirit."_

INTRODUCTORY INSIGHT

“IT IS FINISHED” was not a cry of defeat or despair.
It was a shout of victory and a sound of overcoming.

On the Old Rugged Cross, Jesus completed everything Heaven required for you and for me:

1. Sin was paid for - _Colossians 2:14_ The debt is cancelled and no more binds on me. Hallelujah!
2. Healing was secured - _Isaiah 53:5_ By His stripes you are healed of infirmities and sin-sick disease.
3. Access was restored - _Hebrews 10:19_ The veil was torn, we can come boldly to approach the Throne of God to obtain mercy in times of need. Once alienated from God due to sin had been bridged to reconnect humanity with Divinity!
4. Eternal life was given - _John 3:16_ Death lost its sting and grave lost its power. Death had been swallowed up in victory forever!

The eternal gains of the Old Rugged Cross are not temporary.
They don’t expire.
They don’t run out.
They don’t depend on your performance.
They don't condition your salvation.

Because He said “It is finished,”
You don’t have to strive.
You get to rest in what He already did.
You are now a candidate for daily sanctification!

The Old Rugged Cross didn’t just save you from hell or the lake of fire.
It gave you Paradise Heaven, healing, identity, restoration, and authority — forever!

Let's consider this:

The Paid Inheritance

A young man was drowning in debt.
Creditors were calling. Shame was heavy.

Then one morning, a lawyer knocked on his door.
_“Your grandfather left you an inheritance. And he already paid every single debt in your name.”_

The man wept.
The debt was huge.
But the payment was already finished.

From that day he walked free.
Not because he worked for it.
But because it was finished!

That’s the Old Rugged Cross.
Jesus is the lawyer, the payment, and the inheritance.
When He said “It is finished,” He signed your freedom papers.
The eternal gains are already in your name! Praise the Lord!

PRAYER & SANCTIFYING EXPERIENCE

The I AM THAT I AM, Ancient of days. God eternal and the Lord of host. You're great and loving. There's no shadow of turning in You.

Lord Jesus, thank You that it is finished.
Thank You for the eternal gains of the Old Rugged Cross which represent forgiveness, healing, access, and life.
Help me stop striving and start receiving.
Help me to receive what You finished for me today and always.
In Jesus Name, Amen.

REFLECT & MEDITATE

What area of your life are you still trying to “earn” that Jesus already finished?
Peace? Acceptance? Breakthrough?

DECLARATION
_It is finished. I walk in the eternal gains of the Old Rugged Cross._

Beloved, think about the _empty Cross with light breaking through, and a signed document/inheritance scroll at the foot_ to match “It is finished means inheritance of eternal salvation!”

ALONE WITH JESUS: BEARING THE CROSS OF LOVE ALWAYS!

_Luke 9:23_
_"If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me."_

INTRODUCTORY INSIGHT

The Old Rugged Cross isn’t just what Jesus did _for_ us.
It’s also what He calls us to carry _with_ Him.

Bearing the Cross of love means:
1. Choosing Forgiveness When You’re Hurt - Like Jesus on the Cross, He still prayed His Father to forgive them because they are ignorant of their acts.
2. Serving When It’s Inconvenient - Love lays itself down to serve the unworthy. Jesus' love is incomparable to human estimation.
3. Giving Without Expecting Back - That’s the nature of the Old Rugged Cross. Christ gave us all without a condition. He loves us when we least love Him.
4. Making Love a Divine Principle - true love is a principle. It works within the sphere of sacrifice.

It’s not a one-time event.
It’s _daily_.
It’s _always_.
It's a _sanctifying experience_ with the Holy Spirit's promptings and leadership

The Old Rugged Cross of love is heavy to the flesh, but lighter to the Spirit because Jesus carries it with us!

When we bear the Cross of love, we look like Jesus to a hurting world.

Let's consider this story

The Well in the Village

There was a well in the middle of a dry village.
One man was asked to draw water for everyone every day.
It was hard work. People complained. Some didn’t even say thank you.

One day he was asked, _“Why do you keep doing this?”_
He pointed to the well and said, _“Because if I stop, they will thirst. And I’ve been thirsty before.”_

That’s bearing the Cross of love.
It costs you.
But you do it because Jesus first bore it for you!

PRAYER & THE SANCTIFYING EXPERIENCE

The I AM THAT I AM, the Lord of all flesh. The Sanctifier of humanity and the Saviour of the dying world of sin, hallowed be Thy Holy Name.

Lord Jesus, give me the strength to bear the Old Rugged Cross of love daily.
Help me forgive, serve, and give like You did.
Let my life be a well that never runs dry. Let Your beauty be seen always in my life. Let my life brighten every dark corner where I tread. Make me the instrument of Your love and peace in a world of chaos. Sanctify my life daily and glorify Yourself in my daily conduct of sacrifice for the betterment of humanity. Tak away self from me and give me the humble spirit of service of love. Thank You for answering my prayers.
In Jesus Name, Amen.

Who is God asking you to show cross-shaped love to today? Does your character reflect the Christ of Calvary who selflessly died that you might be saved?

DECLARATION
_I will bear the Old Rugged Cross of love always. I will follow Jesus daily._

GLORYING IN THE CROSS

_Galatians 6:14_
_"But far be it from me to boast except in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ..."_

INTRODUCTORY INSIGHT

The world boasts in money, degrees, status, titles, and followers.
Paul says: _I boast in one thing only - the Cross._

Glorying in the Cross means:

1. My identity is in the Cross - I am forgiven, redeemed, and loved there and I am forever sealed for His glory.
2. My Confidence is in the Cross - Not my strength, but His finished work of salvation.
3. My Message is the Cross - That’s where healing, freedom, and power are found. That's where grace abounds unto a perfect day.

The Cross is not a side note in our faith!
It’s the center!
It’s the boast!
It’s the reason we sing and praise His Holy Name!

When we glory in the Cross, shame loses its voice.
Guilt loses its grip.
And Jesus gets all the glory.

Consider this story:

The Soldier’s Medal

A soldier came back from war with deep scars.
At a ceremony, people asked about his medals, his rank, his achievements.

He just pointed to one scar on his chest and said,
_“This is my medal. This is where my captain took a bullet for me.”_

From that day, he didn’t boast in anything else.
That scar was his story. That was his glory.

Down from His glory,
Ever living story,
My Lord and Saviour came and Jesus was His Name.
Born in a manger, for his own a stranger.
A Man of grace and harmony!

That’s the Cross for us.
Our scars are healed because of His scars.
Our life is saved because of His death.

So we don’t glory in what we’ve done.
We glory in what He did at the Cross of Calvary!

PRAYER & GLORIFICATION

The I AM THAT I AM, eternal Rock of Ages. We praise You for You are God and there's none like You.

Lord Jesus, I refuse to boast in anything but You Alone and Your Cross where life was emptied for my sake.
I glory in Your cross, Your blood, Your sacrifice.
Let my life point to the Cross every day.
In Jesus Name, Amen.

DECLARATION

_I glory in the Cross of Christ. That is my boast and my victory._
