One Thing I Low key Detest About Studying Nursing in Nigeria 😩

You see these stressful relocations in the name of clinical postings??
I hate it so much.

Every few weeks, it’s Pack, travel, adjust, unpack… then repeat the cycle again in few months time.

No matter how much I prep, clinicals always leave me mentally, physically, and emotionally drained.

Honestly, I wish clinicals will be done within affiliated hospitals inside the school without having any need to relocate the students. Although I know it won't be possible because most of the clinicals has to do with specialist hospitals.

These long-distance postings are not only tiring, but sometimes the hospitals are overcrowded with students, everywhere you turn, you hear "Excuse me ma, I'm a student nurse" on repeat πŸ˜‚.
Learning is minimal, and most times we’re just doing ward rounds in circles.

But hey, I won’t lie… There’s a fun side too.
Postings are like a mini escape from lectures, stress, and school wahala. You bond, gist, explore, and maybe, just maybe, remember you're still a student nurse living the adventure. πŸ€πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

My opinion sha. But if you've done clinicals in Nigeria, I know you will understand.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR MOUTH. To take care of your mouth, you should brush your teeth at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, floss daily, and visit your dentist regularly for checkups and cleanings. Additionally, it's important to limit sugary and acidic foods and drinks, avoid smoking, and consider the impact of medications on your oral health.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Brushing:
Brush your teeth at least twice a day, ideally after meals, using a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste.
Brush for at least two minutes each time, ensuring you reach all tooth surfaces.
Consider using an electric toothbrush for more effective cleaning.
Replace your toothbrush every 3-4 months, or sooner if the bristles are worn.
2. Flossing:
Floss at least once a day, preferably after brushing.
Use about 18 inches of floss, wrapping most of it around your middle fingers and holding the remaining section taut with your thumbs and forefingers.
Gently guide the floss between your teeth using a back-and-forth motion, wrapping it around each tooth and sliding it up and down to clean the sides.
3. Dietary Choices:
Limit sugary and acidic foods and drinks, as these can erode tooth enamel and contribute to cavities.
If you consume sugary or acidic items, brush your teeth soon after or rinse your mouth with water.
Drink fluoridated water to strengthen teeth.
4. Professional Care:
Schedule regular dental checkups and cleanings, typically every six months, or more frequently if recommended by your dentist.
Inform your dentist about any medications you're taking, as some can affect saliva production and increase the risk of oral health problems.
If you have certain medical conditions, like diabetes, your dentist may recommend more frequent visits.
5. Other Important Practices:
Avoid to***co products, as they increase the risk of gum disease and oral cancer.
If you wear dentures or retainers, clean them regularly to prevent bacterial buildup.
If you play sports, consider wearing a mouthguard to protect your teeth from injury.
If you experience any unusual symptoms, such as pain, bleeding, or changes in taste, consult your dentist promptly.
