Governor Monday Okpebholo Reassure Esan people of more development

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo gave the assurance while addressing a mammoth crowd of party faithfuls, supporters and Esan people from across the district at Ekpoma, Esan West local government, during the All Progressive Congress (APC) grand finale campaign rally ahead of the senatorial by-election.

He said that the administration is committed to the development of the state and called on the people to support the vision by electing the party's flag bearer in Saturday's election in order to guarantee effective representation and accelerated development of Esan Central Senatorial district.

The speakers at the event noted the giant strides made by Governor Monday Okpebholo's administration within the past nine months and assured them of further development across the state.

Other APC leaders and stakeholders at the rally were the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bar Musa Ikhilor, Chief of Staff, Mallam Ganiyu Audu, Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku and other members of the house, Edo Central senatorial leader, Gen. Cecil Isekhaigbe (Rtd) and other dignitaries.

Owan Marathon 2025, Winners Presented with cash prizes

**Ogbe Stadium, Benin city

Owan Trust and Global Bridge Initiative, organisers of the annual Owan Marathon have presented cash prizes to winners and consolation prizes to the runner's up of the 10km Road Race from Afuze to Sabongida-Ora in Edo State, held on January 3rd 2025.

Presenting the prizes on behalf of Owan Trust and Global Bridge Initiative, at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Mr Alaba Ojo congratulated the winners and runners up of the competition for the excellent performance and adherence to the rules of the game. He emphasized that the organization will remain committed to sports development in Nigeria especially in identifying talents in marathon race. He assured that the next edition will be all encompassing and it targets a larger number of athletes to compete in the game.

The Marathon race was keenly contested with athletes from within and outside Edo State participating, under the supervision of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.

Master Mbah Godspower Paebi emerged as the winner of the male category while Miss Olumide Elizabeth emerged as the winner of the female category at the competition.

**Reiterates that the fight against Cultism must continue.

**Assures that the State government remains resolute in the campaign as no intimidation will stop them from making Edo State safe for Edo people.

The rally made up of Edo Youths and students from across the State took off at the Youth House, through major streets before converging at Government House, Benin city.

Free Medical Outreach at Igbogiri Community, Edo State

The one day free medical outreach held at Igbogiri Town Hall, Uhunmwode local government area, recorded a lot of medical intervention courtesy of Uhunmwode L.G/Saintody.com partnership. The records, nursing, laboratory, doctor's outpatient, dental and pharmacy units attended to patients in sequence to ensure a hitch free event.

Resident from within the community and environs took advantage of the programme to seek for medical attention from the medical team.

The nursing unit took vital signs of patients while laboratory investigations were carried out at the laboratory unit. Drugs prescribed by the doctors were dispensed at the pharmacy unit.

Beneficiaries of the programme thanked the state government and the organisers for attending to their health needs.

Ekiyor hails the defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and entire PDP Structure to APC

** Says the move will engender MORE development in Delta state

APC Chieftain and former Commissioner in Delta State, High Chief Dr Chris Ekiyor has said that the official defection of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, PDP leaders and stakeholders in Delta State to APC will engender socioeconomic development in the state. He stressed that the synergy between the state and federal level will position Delta state for federal presence in line with the Renewed Hope agenda.

Speaking to newsmen at Cenotaph Asaba, during the defection ceremony, Dr Chris Ekiyor welcomed Governor Oborevwori and Delta PDP to APC. He maintained that the entire APC Delta State will work harmoniously with the entrants with the shared vision to develop the state.

The historic ceremony was witnessed by the Vice President, Alhaji Kashin Shettima, APC National Chairman, Alhaji Ganduje, APC National Executive Council, past and serving Governors, National Assembly members and APC faithfuls across the State and beyond.

Dr Chris Ekiyor had earlier joined the Patani local government entourage at the venue where he facilitated with the defectors alongside other APC faithfuls.

Stella Stars Sports Academy Unveiled with vision to transform young athletes
**Benin City, Edo State

Stellar Stars football Academy have been unvield at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, marking a significant step in grassroots sports development with stakeholders, parents and lovers of football in attendance.

The sports academy named after the mother of the President, Engr. Dr Darlington Obakpolor, seeks to empower young athletes and footballers to reach their full potentials while creating the enabling environment for exposure to excel both locally and internationally.

Addressing guests at the unveiling ceremony, Engr. Darlington Obakpolor said that the academy was founded on June 1st 2024 out of the commitment to nurture young talents into resilient and successful individuals. He reiterated that sports has the power to transform lives hence the inclusion of trainings for the children in character and learning to become useful to the society and families. He said that through the synergy with the parents, organizers, football association and international stars, the academy will produce top-notch footballers and act as feeder ground for clubs to tap into the potentials of the young players.

The Special Guest of honour and Chancellor of the football academy, Mr Denis Goavec, former Head Coach of Benin Republic National team and UEFA licenced professional Coach was present at the ceremony thereby providing international credence to the initiative and source of inspiration to the players and guests present.

In his speech, the Chairman of Edo State Football Association, Mr Newton Fred, commended the President for the initiative and lauded the contributions of Mr Denis Goavec to the game of football. He stressed that such collaboration will improve the standard of football in the State and country.

Members of the management team were introduced at the ceremony which includes Ndubuisi Okosieme, Technical Director, Samson Nelson, Coach, Isah Gemba, Academy Coordinator and others.

The football Academy has young players from the age of 8-17 years.
