The Promise We Made
Right now, somewhere in the world, a baby is being born.
Maybe in a safe hospital… or under falling bombs.
Maybe in a palace… or in a makeshift tent.
Wherever that child arrives, the world made a promise
seventy-seven years ago –
a promise to every human being:
You are free born.
You are equal.
No one owns you.
No one should hurt you
for your beliefs or your voice.
That promise has a birthday,
and today marks it.
But when someone is hungry,
frightened, or silenced,
that promise is being broken.
And it’s on us to mend it.
One post to raise your voice for justice.
One donation to support a cause you believe in.
One act of kindness to defend someone oppressed.
Every time we choose dignity and take action,
that newborn – every newborn – inherits a better world.
This isn’t poetry for applause.
It’s our assignment. And today, it’s due.
Let’s get it done.
