1. We do not exploit our strength enough to find opportunities. Her personal background and education had set her up for solving great problems for women.

The personal care industry reached Ntrillion in sales in 2021. Skin care products have up to N128 billion share, a large percentage of these are imported products. The side effects of chemicals is in the news everywhere and they have engendered a serious clamour for indigenous, organically, produced skin care products.

A large percentage of people want products that are made from our herbs and root, atleast something that suit our environment. She has the traditional education, she has the formal education having bagged a B.Sc in Industrial Chemistry, and she's had the professional training of a makeup artiste. But she’s stuck somewhere competing with people with similar products.

2. Many of the small businesses in Nigeria do not think of their product or services as solving a problem. If you know the problem you are trying to solve, selling your product would become magical

3. Find what set you apart, and communicate it loudly. That is what we do when you consult for branding. We don't just do “please design logo and complementary cards for me”.

4. Small business owners must begin to think of how to scale. We often call out our parents for not improving their decade-old businesses, but when we start our own business, we mostly just follow whats is popular.

We hardly use insights enough to analyse, predict and work for the future of our business. Little wonder why most small businesses die in their first year, content with being a makeup artist in the same shop for 10 years or become an imaginary House of Tara without taking on new problems to solve.

There’s this assumption that you have to first invest in the look to attract the your audience. I will give you the full gist.

Our office in Abeokuta where we offered branding and printing services is situated around the High and Magistrate Courts. But we soon realized that our services were in high demand for something else entirely: document assistance.
In a court environment, people were constantly in need of assistance with legal paperwork, from affidavits to other documents, and we knew we could offer something special.

So, it felt natural to create a document assistant service centre by just building a canopy tent in front of our office, what later gave the business a name 😁. Our principle was simple: helping people prepare their legal documents, known as "pro se" in the legal world.

The market was already dominated by typists, former lawyer’s secretaries, and retired court clerks but what set us apart was our experience, education, and communication skills. We understood how to use storytelling to solve problems, and we quickly built a team consisting of chartered secretary, writers, lawyers, and immigration experts. Together, we helped individuals and businesses tell their unique stories in ways that are intelligible to their stakeholders. We are known as the StoryCrafters!

Today, we offer a wide range of services, from court affidavits and job-winning CVs to personal statements, business registration, international admission and other business support services. We even help businesses organize social impact projects for their CSR.

I have been away for sometime now and the most amazing part for me is how these hub has continued to creat full time and side-hustles for young professionals as well young graduates who are always happy to converge virtually and physically to develop ideas and help people solve problems.

Again, this is just to stress the point that opportunity appears in different forms, it only requires your boldness, the ability perceive and pursue it!
