When I entered Nollywood in 2005, there were actors collecting one million naira for a single movie. At that time I was getting about five thousand. Imagine the gap. They could buy a solid car from one job while I was still counting coins, but I refused to envy them.
Instead I asked myself a simple question. If this man is earning one million and I am earning five thousand, what is he giving that I am not yet giving. That thought pushed me to study them. I watched their films again and again, both on set and at home.
I studied Ramsey Nouah, Richard Mofe Damijo, my father, Olu Jacobs and many others. I was not chasing their cars. I was chasing their depth, their commitment, their grace in front of the camera. Once I could offer that same value, I knew the money would eventually follow.
