ICT Regional And National Statistics That That Drives Our Objectives.
National ICT Growth / Contribution: In Q2 2025, the sector recorded a year-on-year real growth rate of 6.61%. In Q1 2025, it grew by 7.40% in real terms.
The ICT sector contributed about 20% to Nigeria's real GDP in Q2 2024, showing a significant upward trend.
Revenue Growth: Nigeria's digital economy revenue is projected to grow from US$9.97 billion in 2021 to US$18.30 billion by 2026.
Sub-sector Drivers: The main drivers of this sector nationally are telecommunications and information services, which accounted for approximately 84.5% of the total ICT sector contribution in Q3 2025 (roughly N4.4 trillion).
Regional Context (Southeast): While Lagos remains the hub for ICT investments, the Southeast is increasingly contributing through growing tech hubs, particularly in cities like Enugu and Owerri.
The growth in Southeast IGR (e.g.,Enugu recording N180.50 billion in 2024 IGR) indicates growing economic activity, of which digital services and fintech startups are a part.

According To findings by SETECHCEX, In As Much As The Level Of Digital Economic Growth In The SouthEast Is Moving At Slow Pace, But The Familiarity And embrace of Technology in Southeast Nigeria is increasing unlike some decades ago, which is driven mostly by young entrepreneurial population and a growing network of innovation hubs which is focusing on e-governance, fintech, and digital skills.
Some Tech Southeast indigenous SMEs are empowering and providing mentorship programs to individuals, schools, religion organizations and businesses aiming to turn the southeast region into a tech / digital innovation and productive center.
The digital economy in Southeast Nigeria is experiencing localized growth, driven by youthful, tech-savvy entrepreneurs, increased fintech adoption (OPay, PalmPay), and state-level initiatives like Enuguβs, focusing on hubs and infrastructure.
Key sectors, such as e-commerce, education (65% impact), and finance (52% impact), are key drivers, while challenges persist with digital visibility, as some regional activities are often misattributed.

Regional Challenges: A major challenge is the lack of proper data attribution, where digital activity in the Southeast is often counted elsewhere, hindering local investment and infrastructure.
State-Level Initiatives: Specific states, such as Enugu, are actively developing hubs for digital entrepreneurs and startups, aiming to become a regional hub.
E-commerce Expansion: The sector is set to expand from US$6.4 billion in 2024 to US$10 billion by 2029.
Training, Innovation Hubs & Startups:So many tech hubs in the southeast are nurturing a burgeoning tech ecosystem, particularly in cities like Enugu, Awka, and Aba, focusing on startups that offer local solutions.
Digital Transformation & E-Governance: State governments (Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo) are increasingly investing in technology to enhance public service delivery, improve efficiency, and foster a digital economy.
