Nigerian Journalists Safety Alert - NJSA This page promotes journalists’ safety in Nigeria
and advocates an enabling environment for media pro The project consists of the following core activities:

i.

The overall goal of the NJSA is to facilitate a free and safe environment for journalists and other media professionals in the country as part of the mandate of the International Press Centre (IPC) in facilitating media freedom and development. NJSA arises from the background of continued violations of journalists’ rights in Nigeria through attacks, arrests, abductions etc, and the the imperative

of ensuring higher safety consciousness and the need to engage media and other stakeholders including the law enforcement agencies on measures to mitigate incidents of attacks on journalists and the media in Nigeria. NJSA is a component of a project by IPC on Advancing the Safety of Journalists in Nigeria. Monitoring and documentation of attacks on journalists;

ii. Running of a ‘safety alert/help desk” and advocacy for journalists at risk;

iii. Organization of tweet-a-thons on safety of journalists and media professionals;

iv. Media capacity building on safety consciousness, safety methodologies and contemporary safety best practices;

v. Publication of manual on safety of journalists. For additional information, visit IPC site .org
