ONE STEP AWAY FROM REALITY!
How combat ready are you?
You’ve been fortunate to have scaled the first written test. Soon after the ‘wahala’ begins to set in, once you’re before the panel for the screening leading to the audition proper. You have been asked to read from a news script and after the take of the first paragraph …….
‘Hey! Hey! Stop there, what do you think you are doing? I hate your reading style, your pronunciations are poor, your voice sounds so irritating!’.
Complete silence engulfs the room. Other members of the panel of interviewers look stunned at the reaction of their colleague. ‘Whaat?’ The lady on the ‘hot seat’ was so distraught. She struggled to make some sense out all happening around her; she couldn’t. She broke down. The other interviewers rushed to console her!
You would have thought she was out of contention. No! She made it! The lone act on the panel scored her poorly. The all-male ‘jury’ remaining on the panel, gave a resounding assessment! Because in all, her skill stood out.
Tests, Auditions, Examinations, whatever you call them, go a long way in ascertaining our mental, professional and physical fitness for the job or position we seek to be offered.
Don't forget, Different reality checks and requirements are deployed by intending employers in the search for competent hands. Broadcasting tests are also deliberately focused at achieving this goal.
No matter how skilled you are, some interviewers would put you at a shaky edge, so the next time you are up for an interview, don't go alone with just skills but a huge Airbag of COURAGE, incase you get hit by a slightly frustrated employer.
The journey continues.
