Ogun State Police Rescue Ivorian After Alleged Self-Kidnapping Drama
The Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Response Team (IRT) has rescued a 38-year-old Ivorian national, Kacou Alleby, in Ogun State, after he was initially reported kidnapped—only for investigations to reveal the incident was a case of self-kidnapping.
How the Alleged Kidnapping Was ReportedAccording to the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, the operation followed a distress request from the INTERPOL National Central Bureau in Abuja, acting on behalf of authorities in Côte d’Ivoire.
On September 12, 2025, Alleby’s family in Abidjan received disturbing torture videos and ransom demands, leading to fears that he had been abducted by criminal gangs operating in Nigeria.
Swift Police Action in Ogun
Acting on directives from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, operatives of the IRT launched a coordinated operation that traced the suspects to Matogun, Ogun State.
During the operation, police arrested a 28-year-old female suspect, identified as Angela Arisa, also an Ivorian national. She later led detectives to a hideout at an estate in Olambe, where Alleby was found safe and unhurt.
