THIS IS WHY THEY DON’T SEE YOU; THEY SEE THEMSELVES IN YOU
(How people’s perception of you says more about them than about who you are)
I’ve come to realize that people will always have an idea of who they think you are and sometimes, that idea has nothing to do with your truth.
You can be minding your business, simply quiet and observant, and someone will call you proud.
You can finally set boundaries, and they’ll say you’ve changed.
You can start living in your truth, and suddenly you’re “acting different.”
It took me a while to understand that people don’t see you as you are they see you through the lens of who they are.
They project their insecurities, experiences, and beliefs onto you, and then call that “judgment.”
When someone says you’re too calm, it’s often because they can’t sit with their own stillness. (Like they called me)😅
When they call you intimidating, it’s because your confidence makes them aware of what they lack.
And when they call you “mysterious,” it’s because they’re not used to people who don’t perform for validation.
We spend so much time trying to correct these labels trying to explain, defend, or clarify ourselves to people who already made up their minds.
But honestly? You owe no one an explanation.📌📌
Sometimes peace is choosing silence over self-defense.
Because at the end of the day, people’s perception of you isn’t always truth, it’s projection.
And once you understand that, you stop wasting energy on being understood, and start focusing on just being.
I’ve learned that identity isn’t tied to your title, your job, or your achievements.
Those things can change.
But what doesn’t change is that quiet awareness inside you; the one that still knows who you are even when no one else gets it.
So let people talk. Let them label. Let them misunderstand.
They only see from their level of clarity.
You just stay true, stay grounded, and stay aware.
Because at the end of it all peace is knowing who you are, even when others don’t.
