โ€œName it to tame itโ€ is a concept from Dan Siegel. It means that when you put your feelings into clear words, they become easier to understand and manage. When emotions stay unnamed, they often feel big, confusing, and overwhelming. You may just feel โ€œbadโ€ or โ€œoffโ€ without knowing why. In that state, your reactions become automatic. You might shut down, get irritated, or feel anxious without fully understanding what is happening inside you.

But when you pause and label the feeling, something shifts. Saying โ€œI feel anxious,โ€ โ€œI feel rejected,โ€ or โ€œI feel disappointedโ€ helps organize your experience. Instead of being flooded by emotion, you begin to make sense of it. You move from reacting to reflecting.

There is also a brain-based reason for this. Naming emotions helps calm the emotional center of the brain and activates the thinking part. In simple terms, you go from being controlled by the feeling to being aware of it.

It does not mean the emotion disappears right away. The feeling is still there, but it becomes less intense and less chaotic. You gain a small space between you and the emotion, and in that space, you can choose how to respond.

Hypergamy refers to the tendency to seek a partner perceived as higher in status, whether socially, financially, or physically. The concept has been studied across cultures and is often tied to evolutionary psychology and mate selection patterns.

Historically, researchers suggest it may have been linked to survival, where choosing a resourceful or protective partner increased the chances of stability and offspring survival. However, modern dating dynamics have evolved, with both men and women prioritizing a mix of emotional, financial, and personal compatibility.

Today, the idea remains debated. While some see it as natural preference, others view it as a reflection of shifting societal expectations around success, independence, and long term partnership.

Cognitive dissonance is the tension between what you believe and what you do.

Itโ€™s not a sign that something is wrong with you.
Itโ€™s a sign that something inside you wants alignment.

And the goal isnโ€™t perfection.
Itโ€™s awareness.

Because once you understand that tension, you can start making choices that feel more honest, more aligned, and more peaceful.

Whatโ€™s one small thing in your life right now that doesnโ€™t fully align with who you want to be?

Not to judge it.
Just to notice it.

Because sometimes, awareness is the quiet beginning of change.

Musturbation (Albert Ellis, REBT) is a term that sounds funny, but it describes a very serious thinking pattern.

It happens when you turn your preferences into rigid demands. Instead of saying, โ€œI want this,โ€ your mind says, โ€œThis must happen.โ€ And when reality does not follow, you feel intense stress.

For example, โ€œI must succeed, or I am a failure.โ€, โ€œPeople must treat me well, or they are bad.โ€, and โ€œLife must be easy, or something is wrong.โ€

The problem is not the goal. The problem is the word โ€œmust.โ€
When you use โ€œmust,โ€ you leave no room for mistakes, delays, or differences. So when things go wrong, your reaction becomes stronger than the situation itself. You may feel anxiety, anger, shame, or frustration.

Ellis explained that this kind of thinking creates unnecessary emotional suffering. Not because the situation is always terrible, but because your belief about it is too rigid.

A healthier shift is changing:

โ€œI must succeedโ€ = โ€œI want to succeed, but I can handle failure.โ€
โ€œThey must treat me wellโ€ = โ€œI prefer respect, but I cannot control others.โ€
โ€œLife must be fairโ€ = โ€œI hope for fairness, but I can still cope when it is not.โ€

This does not mean lowering your standards. It means becoming flexible instead of harsh with yourself and the world.

In short, musturbation is when your mind becomes too strict with reality.

Tragic optimism is the idea that a person can still choose hope and meaning even when life is painful, unfair, or difficult. It does not mean ignoring sadness or pretending everything is okay. Instead, it means accepting that suffering is real while still believing that life can still have value. For example, a person may go through loss, failure, or stress, but instead of giving up, they look for something they can still learn, grow from, or hold on to. It is about saying, โ€œThis is hard, but I will still move forward.โ€

You can think of tragic optimism as the healthy opposite, or counterpart, of toxic positivity. Toxic positivity pushes people to stay positive all the time and ignore negative emotions, which can make people feel unheard or pressured. Tragic optimism, on the other hand, allows you to feel pain, sadness, or fear, while still choosing hope.

Anorexia nervosa, often thought of as a modern disorder linked to societal pressures and media portrayals of thinness, has actually been recognized for centuries. The earliest known description of anorexia dates back to 1689, when English physician Richard Morton documented cases of patients suffering from extreme thinness and loss of appetite. Morton referred to these symptoms as "nervous consumption," distinguishing it from other forms of wasting diseases like tuberculosis.

What Richard Morton Observed?
Morton described two cases in his writings:

1. One involved a teenage girl who exhibited severe weight loss, fatigue, and a refusal to eat. Despite her physical condition, she remained preoccupied with maintaining her appearance and avoiding food.

2. The other case involved a young man who similarly displayed extreme emaciation and weakness, along with a lack of interest in eating.

At the time, Morton attributed these symptoms to "nervous" or psychological causes rather than purely physical ailments. This was groundbreaking because most medical conditions during that era were understood through the lens of bodily imbalances (e.g., humoral theory), not mental health.

Self-serving bias is when a person explains success and failure in a way that protects their self-image. When something goes well, they usually believe it is because of their own ability or effort. When something goes wrong, they tend to blame outside factors such as luck, other people, or the situation. For example, if someone passes an exam, they might say it is because they are smart and prepared, but if they fail, they might say the test was unfair or too difficult. This happens because people naturally want to feel good about themselves and avoid feeling like they are not good enough. While this can help protect confidence, it can also prevent a person from seeing their own mistakes clearly and learning from them.

A new study is raising serious concerns about the long term effects of smoking, finding that w**d, to***co, or both may be linked to shrinkage in multiple areas of the brain. Researchers highlight potential impacts on memory, learning ability, and decision making over time.

The findings suggest that prolonged exposure to these substances could alter brain structure, especially in areas tied to cognitive function and emotional regulation. Experts emphasize that combined use may increase the risks even further.

As cannabis becomes more widely accepted and legalized, studies like this are fueling conversations about balancing public perception with long term health implications.

He is Risen.

What feels like breaking can be your making. Like an egg, your cracks are not there to destroy you, but to release the life that has been quietly growing inside you all along. Sometimes, the pressure, the pain, and the moments when you feel like you are falling apart are actually preparing you to become someone stronger, wiser, and more grounded.

Do not rush your healing. Do not judge your process. Even an egg takes time before it opens, and when it does, it brings new life. In the same way, your struggles today may be shaping a version of you that you have not yet seen, but will one day thank yourself for.

This Easter is a reminder that endings are not always endings. Some are beginnings in disguise. Keep going, even when it feels hard. Something meaningful is forming within you.

04/04/2026

Imagine you are the voter in the picture, listening to the politicians speaking in front of you. The anchoring effect happens when the first message you hear becomes your mental starting point, and everything you hear after that is judged based on it. For example, let us say one of the politicians speaks first and presents a very strong or extreme claim about the country. Maybe the situation is shown as very bad or very good. That first message becomes your anchor. Then the other politicians speak. They may give different views, maybe more balanced or more accurate. But your mind does not start fresh. Instead, it compares everything to the first message you heard.

So what happens?

-If the first politician made things sound very bad, the next politician may seem not that bad even if the situation is still serious.

-If the first message made things sound very good, the next one may seem negative or critical, even if they are just being realistic
Your judgment is already โ€œsetโ€ by the first speaker

The main point here is, your brain is not comparing all politicians equally. It is using the first one as the reference point. This happens because the brain wants to make quick decisions. Instead of analyzing every message from zero, it holds on to the first information and adjusts everything around it.
