Founded in the1952 and listed on the Stock Exchange of Mauritius, NMH stands today as the island nation’s largest hotel group, with a footprint that stretches beyond its shores to the Seychelles and Morocco.
2. From island pioneer to regional hospitality leader
New Mauritius Hotels began as one of the early pioneers of the Mauritian tourism industry, long before the island became a global luxury hotspot. Over the decades, it has expanded into a diversified hospitality group, operating several high-end resorts, including the flagship Royal Palm Beachcomber Luxury, and running tour operating, catering, and travel service arms.
Through its Beachcomber brand, NMH helped define the modern Mauritian resort experience, blending tropical elegance with sustainable practices and local artistry.
3. Financial performance and market standing
After a strong post-pandemic recovery, NMH entered 2025 on a firm footing.
Revenue rose by roughly 10 percent to MUR16.9 billion ($372.81 million), maintaining a robust EBITDA of around MUR4.8 billion ($105.89 million).
While profit margins have tightened, the group’s balance sheet remains healthy, backed by prime real estate assets and resilient international demand.
NMH’s share price on the Mauritius Stock Exchange (SEM) has reflected investor confidence with a valuation of MUR7.7 billion ($169.88 million).
4. Strategy and bigger picture
The company continues to focus on premium leisure travel, digital transformation, and sustainability, areas that have become vital to attracting high-value guests.
As Mauritius cements its position as a financial and tourism hub, NMH remains a symbol of the island’s soft power, exporting not just a brand but an identity rooted in service, culture, and natural beauty.
