Did you know that a major fact about Lagos’ history is that it was originally a small Yoruba settlement known as “Eko.”

The name “Lagos,” meaning “lakes” in Portuguese, was given by Portuguese explorers in the late 15th century. The city later became a major center for the Atlantic slave trade in the 18th century before its abolition, and it was annexed as a British colony in 1861, eventually serving as Nigeria’s capital until 1991.

This is a footage of Lagos in 1960 , the scene include cyclists and people walking across Carter Bridge which connects Lagos Island with the mainland and Iddo Garage..
