"How to Calculate Your Menstrual Cycle"
......What is a menstrual cycle......?
Your menstrual cycle is the number of days from the first day of one menstrual period to the first day of your next menstrual period.
The keyword here is the "FIRST DAY"
.....Example 1:
Your period starts on July 1.
The next time your period starts is July 29.
Count from July 1 to July 29.
Your menstrual cycle is 28 days.
......Example 2:
Your period starts on August 5.
Your next period starts on September 2.
That means your menstrual cycle is 28 days.
......Example 3:
Your period starts on January 10.
Your next period starts on February 11.
Your menstrual cycle is 32 days.
It doesn't matter whether your period lasts for 3 days, 5 days, or 7 days.
What matters is the number of days between the first day of one period and the first day of the next period.
How long should a normal menstrual cycle be?
A normal menstrual cycle is usually between 21 and 35 days in adults. (take note).
For teenagers who have just started menstruating, the cycle may be more irregular for the first few years because their hormones are still adjusting.
Also, your cycle doesn't have to be exactly 28 days every month.
For example:
- This month: 28 days
- Next month: 29 days
- Another month: 27 days
This can still be perfectly normal.
So, now you know how to calculate your menstrual cycle the right way.
We shall continue in the next lesson:
