Agbatititi kii rọ
(The old ways don't bend easily.)

I watched her push aside the fancy glass spray bottles and reach for a handful of gray wood ash instead.

We were supposed to be deep cleaning the compound before the rains started, but my auntie just stood there staring at a stubborn grease stain on the outdoor hearth. She said, 'Agbatititi kii rọ', which basically means the old, hard ways don't bend easily, and neither should our results.

Then, I saw her mix that ash with a bit of water until it turned into a gritty paste and scrubbed the stone until it looked like it had never seen fire.

It hit me then that we often buy the expensive organic versions of what our grandmothers literally pulled from the fireplace for free. Watching her rinse it away, I realized how much we have complicated the simple act of keeping a home.

What is one old-school cleaning trick that you refused to give up for the modern version?

The scent of real shea isn't that pleasant.

My grandmother used to say something that confused me as a child…

"If it smells like perfume, it is no longer medicine."

I didn’t understand then. Now I do.

We’ve been trained to believe that pure means white, odorless, smooth, and perfect. But real shea butter was never meant to smell like nothing.

Real Grade A shea smells alive.

Nutty.
Smoky.
Earthy.

That scent is not dirt. It is the vitamins. The life. The memory of the tree itself.

When shea is overprocessed just to look pretty on a shelf, something is lost. It may look cleaner, but it is no longer whole.

If you grew up in a home where shea butter was part of daily life, you already know this.

Tell me honestly…
Do you remember what real shea butter smelled like?

Beans=Heart 🔥, No Worries

Beans are rich, filling, and loved — but oh, the trouble they cause for some bellies!

My Iya used this trick that made everyone at home love beans:
1️⃣ Soak overnight.
2️⃣ Rinse and change the water.
3️⃣ Add scent leaf or a slice of ginger while cooking.

This usually came out Soft, delicious, with sweet aroma and a peaceful stomach.

Some call it a kitchen hack. I call it inherited wisdom.

Tag that friend and family member that usually have heart burn or runny stomach after eating beans.

Revealing items in iya's basket 😁

Inside Iya’s basket this night: a clay pot, a sprig of mint, and the soft promise of evening tea.

When the sun lowers itself and the air cools, we pour the hot water slowly, letting the mint’s scent rise and wrap around us like a soft wrapper.

Some say tea is for thirst, but Iya says it’s for slowing down and listening.

What’s in your cup tonight?" 🌿🍵

Your Saturday lunch is about to get an upgrade😋

The weekend is coming… and so is the taste of home. 🍲✨

In my Grandma’s kitchen, beans weren’t just food — they were an event that everyone looked forward to.

The slow boil over firewood, the soft aroma of ginger filling the air, and the green whisper of scent leaves dancing on top.

This Saturday, I’ll share the one simple trick she taught me — the secret to making beans taste just like childhood.

No bloating. No bitterness. Just comfort in a pot. 🌿

📌 Stay tuned.

Do you remember those days when healing didn’t always come from a pharmacy, but from the quiet leaves growing by the fence? 🤔

Then, our mothers and grandmothers stirred pots, not just for taste, but to keep sickness far from the home.

My Grandma's Pot is here to take you back.

Back to when we understood that some dangers are “silent killer” that creeps in without pain or warning.

It happens when the pressure in your blood vessels stays too high (140/90 mmHg or more).

It can come due to age, stress, family history, too much salt, sitting too much, being overweight, or drinking too much alcohol.

Unfortunately, most people never know until it strikes.

Now, I've brought Grandma’s Heart-Calming Brew to your screen. This isn’t magic, but the land’s wisdom, to support your doctor’s care:

🌿 Acalypha leaves – more than a handful
🍋 4–5 lemons, sliced whole
💧 Add water to cover
🔥 Boil gently for 45 minutes

Drink 1 cup in the morning and 1 cup in the evening.
It can help your body lower the pressure.

But always remember to:

- Eat more vegetables, less salt.

- Move your body — even dancing while cooking counts.

- Avoid to***co and too much alcohol.

- Check your bl**d pressure, even if you feel fine.

📌 Note: For educational purposes only — always follow your doctor’s advice.

Like, follow and share to your family and friends. They may need this.

Hey guys! It's been ages 🫠

Here i am recalling the good old days about:

The Oil That Raised Us

When I was growìng up, I could recognize the sound of groundnuts roasting from the backyard.

My grandma never used measuring spoons but knew the exact amount and moment to pull the nuts off the fire, just by the smell. Then she’d pour them into her grinding stone, hands moving slow but sure, humming as she worked.

The oil she pressed? Usually Golden, Thick, and Aromatic. It didn’t come in fancy bottles or with a logo. But it fed generations.

However, years later, after living on my own and used so many store bought refined oils, I realized that the one made by my grandma was the real oil. It was Pure, Clean, and Made with care, not chemicals.

Today, I’very decided to bring that oil back.

No additives. No shortcuts. Just 100% unrefined, and pressed under very low heat groundnut oil, made in small batches, like Grandma did it, even though we've found a more efficient way to do it.

I’m not here to sell you a product. Not yet.

I just want to share this memory. Because maybe… you grew up on oil like this too.

Follow this page if you believe some things are still worth doing the old way even though we've found more efficient ways to do it. 🧡
