Working out daily is like brushing my teeth. It’s a part of me. I can’t do without it.

But it took me about 1 year and 6 months to get here. To recondition my brain. I hated working out. I dreaded it but I did it anyway.

Moral lesson: Great things take time.

Have a great day.

The hardest pill to swallow about getting abs? You actually already have them. They’re just hiding.

You can do 20-minute ab workouts every single day, but until you get your diet in check and strip that top layer of fat, you are never going to see them.

Get into a caloric deficit. Eat less. Move more. Drop down to the 10-13% body fat range. Hit one solid core exercise at the end of your workout sessions to build the blocky muscle and keep your protein intake high as it’s the cement for your building (abs)

What is your go-to ab exercise? Drop it in the comments, let’s gist!

You don’t need to eat boring food to stay in shape. This is my dinner almost every single night. I start with fiber (cabbage, carrots, cucumber, avocado) to slow down digestion and keep me full for longer, then move on to a plate of jollof rice, moi moi, eggs, fish, and beef for protein and carbs.

Find whole, local foods you actually enjoy, and make them your daily standard. Keep it simple, eat healthy and control your portions. Do this every day and the results will begin to creep in a couple of months.

If you wait until you are hungry to figure out what you are eating, you’re most likely playing yourself. Your stomach will always choose the fastest, easiest junk food available, and it doesn’t care about your fitness goals.

Don’t wait till you’re hungry. Plan the meals well ahead of time. Prep the ingredients, stick to the script. Consistency is just eliminating bad choices before they even happen.

Second day attempting a muscle-up without the knee tuck. Dropped off after four rep. Had a full back session to get through and was not trying to burn out before the real work begins.

My 2nd ever 5km run. Running a 5k in mid-day 36-degree heat is probably not my smartest idea, but I needed to get this 5k done. Turns out, it wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be.

And yeah, I completely forgot to apply sunscreen before stepping out. Just out here taking pure UV-A rays to the face. Abeg, learn from my mistakes and protect your skin.

If you’ve been hitting the gym for years and your chest still looks flat, you’re probably spending way too much time on the flat bench. Flat bench is fine, but it mostly targets the middle and lower chest. If you want that full, wide look, “that shelf”, you need to prioritize your upper chest.

Here is the fix: start your workout with the incline bench press. Hit it first while you have the most energy. Most guys exhaust their shoulders and triceps on the flat bench and have nothing left for the incline. Don’t do that. After your incline sets, move to chest flies, so you can get a proper squeeze and full contraction from left to right.

I actually dropped flat bench completely, switched to incline first and flies, and the difference was crazy. Try it for the next 3 to 6 months and watch what happens. Train smarter, not harder ✊

I’ve always felt like it would take at least a month for one to learn a muscle up but .thebuilder just proved me wrong. HE IS THE EXCEPTION!! Turns out, with proper guidance, determination and overall strength from past training, you too can land it in a day 🫵
