CHAPTER TWO

Bismillah

Days passed, and Siyama couldn't stop thinking about Yusuf . She wondered if their encounter was mere coincidence or fate's way of reuniting them.

At work, her colleagues noticed her distraction. "Siyama, are you okay?" her boss asked, concern etched on his face.

Siyama forced a smile. "Yes, I'm fine. Just preoccupied with some personal stuff."

That evening, Siyama received a text from Yusuf: "Hey, how are you? Still up for coffee?"

Her heart skipped a beat as she typed out a response: "When were you thinking?"

Yusuf replied instantly: "How about tomorrow? 2 pm at Starbucks?"

Siyama's palms grew sweaty as she agreed. What was she getting herself into?

Siyama arrived at Starbucks early, nervously fidgeting with her purse. Yusuf walked in, looking dashing in a tailored suit.

As they sipped their coffee, Siyama felt like no time had passed. Their conversation flowed effortlessly, like they were picking up where they left off.

But beneath the surface, Siyama knew there were unresolved issues. She had been hurt deeply by Yusuf's past mistakes.

"Suf, why did you reach out?" Siyama asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Siyama expression turned serious. "I've been thinking about us a lot lately. I realize I made mistakes, Siyama. I'm willing to work on them if you give me a chance."

Siyama's heart skipped a beat. Was she ready to take that chance

As they parted ways, Siyama felt a sense of uncertainty. She didn't know if she was ready to reopen old.

Bismillah

CHAPTER ONE

Siyama stepped out of the crowded conference hall, seeking fresh air. The Lagos night was alive with music and laughter. As she walked toward the bar, she collided with a familiar figure.

"Yusuf!" she exclaimed, her voice barely above a whisper.

Yusuf's eyes locked onto hers, and a charming smile spread across his face. "Siyama! Long time no see."

They exchanged awkward pleasantries, catching up on lost time. Siyama's mind wandered back to their tumultuous past. They had been college sweethearts, but their relationship ended abruptly.

As they chatted, Siyama noticed Yusuf's eyes still sparkled with the same intensity that had drawn her to him years ago.

"Suf, what brings you here?" Siyama asked, trying to sound casual.

"Business," he replied, his voice low and smooth. "I'm working on a new project. How about you?"

Siyama launched into a brief summary of her marketing career. Yusif listened intently, his gaze never wavering.

The music changed, and the crowd began to disperse. Yusuf glanced at his watch. "I should go. It was great running into you, Siyama."

Siyama smiled, feeling a pang of disappointment. "Likewise, Suf. Take care."

As Yusuf turned to leave, he hesitated. "Actually, would you like to grab coffee sometime? Catch up properly?"

Siyama's heart skipped a beat. She hadn't expected that. "Let's see," she said, smiling politely.

Yusuf's eyes sparkled with amusement, as if he knew she'd agree eventually. "I'll hold you to that," he said, before disappearing into the crowd.

Siyama couldn't shake off the feeling of unease after encountering Yusuf. She drove home, lost in thought. Memories of their college days flooded her mind – laughter, arguments, and passionate nights.

As she parked her car, Siyama's best friend, NaNa, greeted her at the door. "Hey, girl! How was the event?"

Siyama collapsed onto the couch, kicking off her heels. "It was fine, until I saw Yusuf."

NaNa's eyes widened. "Yusuf? As in your ex, Yusuf?"

Siyama nodded, replaying their conversation. Nana listened attentively, her expression a mix of concern and curiosity.

"What did he want?" Nana asked, her voice laced with skepticism.

Siyama shrugged. "Just catching up, I guess. He asked me out for coffee."

Nana raised an eyebrow. "And?"

Siyama hesitated. "I didn't give him a straight answer. I'm not sure if I'm ready to face the past."
