Nigeria Travel 2026: Part 3 – The Money Guide 💵🇳🇬
Don’t get stuck at the counter with cash you can’t use! Handling money in Nigeria has changed this year, and you need to be prepared before you land.
🔹 The "Blue Note" Rule: Banks and exchange bureaus are strictly rejecting old $100 bills. Your dollars MUST be the Blue Ribbon series (2009 or newer) and they must be crisp. No tears, no ink marks, no folds!
🔹 New Cash Limits: As of Jan 2026, the weekly withdrawal limit is 500,000 Naira for individuals. Don’t rely solely on ATMs—bring your "Blue Notes" or use transfer apps like LemFi or Sendwave for better rates.
🔹 Airport Update: Good news! airport gates are back to a hybrid system. They now accept both cash and card, so you won't get stuck in that toll gate traffic.
🔹 Current Rate: Today’s rate is hovering around 1,385 - 1,400 NGN to $1 USD.

I’ve been getting so many questions about my trip to Nigeria, so I’m breaking it all down! Today we’re talking about the best ways to fly. With everything going on in the world, I’m prioritizing direct flights to keep travel simple and safe.
In this video, I’m sharing:
✅ Which U.S. cities have non-stop flights to Lagos.
✅ Why avoiding layovers is a smart move right now.
✅ A quick tip for my Houston followers! Houston (IAH) is a major hub, there are no airlines currently offering direct, non-stop flights from Houston to Lagos. ⭐The best option is United or Delta (via Atlanta or DC): You can take a quick 2-hour flight to Atlanta (ATL) or Washington D.C. (IAD) and then catch the direct flight to Lagos from there.
