Investing in People, Harvesting Prosperity
A Government’s greatest legacy is not measured by the number of structures it erects, but by the number of lives it transforms.
With this conviction, the Progenitor of the People’s Charter of Needs, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, GGCEHF, FNIOB, FCAI, Governor of Ebonyi State, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, took another bold step in his administration’s commitment to human capital development.
On that day, Governor Nwifuru flagged off an intensive agricultural training programme for 200 Ebonyi youths at CSS Farms, Nasarawa State; a strategic investment designed to equip beneficiaries with practical skills capable of creating wealth, ensuring food security, and fostering entrepreneurship.
Addressing the participants in Gora, the Governor reaffirmed his unwavering resolve to ensuring that Ebonyi youths are productively engaged in meaningful and self-sustaining ventures rather than remaining spectators in the nation’s economy.
Throughout the training, participants were immersed in modern agricultural practices, receiving hands-on instruction in poultry, piggery, crop production, fisheries, and other key areas of agribusiness, all aligned with global best practices.
But Governor Nwifuru’s intervention did not end with training alone. In a remarkable demonstration of his belief that knowledge must be matched with opportunity, each of the 200 beneficiaries, comprising 171 Ward Councillors and other Ebonyians received ₦5 million as start-up capital to establish and expand the agricultural enterprises they had been trained to manage.
This initiative is yet another testament to the People’s Charter of Needs philosophy: empowering citizens not merely with hope, but with the skills, resources, and confidence to build lasting prosperity.
Indeed, when leaders invest in people, communities flourish and Governor Francis Nwifuru continues to prove that the surest path to sustainable development begins with empowering the people.
