The Fire I Walked Through by GIDEON CHIMEREMEZE MOSES
I stood still, watching the city burn.
You may see calm on my face, but inside, memories were collapsing like the buildings around me. My name is MGC...some call me that with pride now. But once, I was just Michael... a broken dreamer with no voice, no purpose, and no courage.
Let me take you back
It started the night I lost everything.
My father’s words still echoed in my mind: “Don’t hide your gift, son. Don’t die with it buried in you.” But I did the opposite. I ran. I was scared to try, scared to fail, scared to be seen.
That night, the fire came.
No, not just the fire that consumed my home and my street... I mean the one that burned in my heart. The one that God Himself lit when He whispered, “Now, rise.”
I walked through the ashes.
Through shame, fear, and rejection. Through the voices that told me I was too small, too late, too ordinary.
But in that fire, I found something.
I found Him.
I found the boldness to stand up, to speak, to sing, not because I had a perfect voice, but because I had a story. A purpose. A reason to keep walking.
People now see me in white, neat, smiling.
But what they don’t see is the fire I walked through. The pain I survived. The gifts I almost buried.
They don’t see how I used to stare at my mirror, whispering to God, “Why me?”
And how He replied, “Because I placed something eternal inside you.”
Now, every time I stand before a crowd…
Every time someone calls me MGC…
I smile not because I made it,
But because the fire didn’t break me, it revealed me.
So if you’re reading this, feeling like the world is collapsing around you — hold on.
Maybe, just maybe, you're not being destroyed…
You're being rebuilt.
Walk through your fire.
There’s glory on the other side.
And your name?
It will shine, not because it’s big…
But because He is.
MGC
Made for Glory. Called for More.
