LETTER TO BSU FRESHERS.
Good morning brothers and sisters.
As you set to be matriculated into the university, it's an honour to me as a brother to write this encouraging/advising piece as a brotherly gift to you to think deep and pick what is worth picking from it.
To the ladies.
You are going into a totally different environment and regardless of what you think you know, the university environment will consider you to be naive and inexperienced so a lot of things will want to work against you if you are not careful. In the university system, we have both the rich, the handsome and the brilliant guys all at your disposal. Always know where you are coming from and prioritize your purpose there before any other thing.
Let me tell you a story.
In 2012 when we entered our 100 level in the same BSU, we had a lot of fresh and beautiful young ladies like you as course mates. Unfortunately, 80% of them never looked at our faces because we were broke, naive and swagerless like your mates as compared to the 300/400level guys which will be making advances at you. Our female course mates went on dating our seniors and forming for us without minding how heartbreaking it was to us. It was very painful but there was nothing we could do. To the 100 level ladies, it was an upgrade meanwhile to the guys in 300/400levels, they saw fresh meat and were getting their share as it's always been.
After two years some of their boyfriends either graduated or brokeup, abandoned them and they started going to weekends in Abuja to meet our uncles. They would go for a weekend and stay for 2 weeks without attending lectures just to come back with new wig, a big phone and new bag. When they got to 300/400level, nobody was looking their faces again. They started giving green light to we their course mates who had been seeing them with different men at exclusive wine bar, TC and the rest over the years meanwhile it was a No No for us.
