KOGI UNITED FC PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO HON. BASHIRU GEGU AHEAD OF NLO MATCHDAY 5

Players and officials of Kogi United Football Club, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner of Solid Minerals, Hon. Abubakar Bashiru Gegu, in Gegu Beki on Saturday while en route to Abuja for their Matchday 5 fixture in the ongoing Nationwide League One, NLO.

The team, led by Team Leader Mr. Itodo Michael Olachene, travelled in the newly unveiled 32-seater coaster bus donated by His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, to the state female team, Confluence Queens FC. The visit was in recognition of Hon. Gegu’s reputation as a grassroots politician who spends weekends with his people.

Speaking during the visit, Mr. Olachene conveyed the team’s appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the donation of the bus, noting that it has significantly improved mobility and comfort for state-owned teams. He added that Kogi United’s use of the bus for the Abuja trip demonstrates that the Governor’s gesture benefits all teams under the state.

While expressing gratitude, Mr. Olachene further appealed to the Governor, through Hon. Gegu, to consider providing Kogi United FC with its own dedicated bus to ease logistics and enhance preparations.

Responding, Hon. Abubakar Bashiru Gegu thanked the team for the visit and acknowledged the unifying power of football. He emphasized the need for government and stakeholders to support sporting talents at all levels.

Hon. Gegu assured the delegation that he would speak with the Governor to facilitate the provision of a bus and other necessary support for Kogi United FC to boost the team’s morale.

He charged the players to continue making the state proud and wished them success in their upcoming fixtures.

In his usual philanthropic gesture, Hon. Gegu donated ₦1,000,000 to the team to support feeding and logistics for the Abuja trip.

Kogi United FC Lift 2026 State FA Cup With 2-0 Victory Over Reigners FC

Kogi United Football Club has emerged champions of the 2026 Kogi State Football Association Cup after a 2-0 win over Reigners Football Club on Sunday evening at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.

Alih Musa opened the scoring for Kogi United in the 19th minute, giving his side a first-half lead that they held until the break. Ismail Isah doubled the advantage in the 80th minute to seal the victory.

Despite sustained efforts from Reigners FC, Kogi United’s defense remained resolute throughout both halves to secure a clean sheet.

Speaking after the match, Kogi United Team Manager, Mr. Michael Itodo Olachene, described the journey to the title as demanding.

“For two to three seasons, Kogi United had not reached the final of the Federation Cup, and that was unacceptable to us. After rebuilding the squad with new players, our primary target was to win the FA Cup this year. We have trained for months towards this tournament, and we thank God that we are victorious today after several seasons,” Olachene said.

He commended the players and technical Crew by Coach Musa Abubakar Manaman for their sacrifice, noting that Reigners FC were formidable opponents. “Reigners FC is not a team to underrate, but the state-owned side showed class to beat them,” he added.

Olachene expressed confidence that the team’s performance puts them on track for a return to the Nigeria National League.

He also thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for appointing Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe as Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, commending the Commissioner’s support for both Kogi United and Confluence Queens.

"As far as I am concerned, Hon. Aridaojo has been a blessing to Kogi United and Confluence Queens. He is intelligent, attentive, and accommodating, and he always gives a listening ear to issues. Most importantly, he has consistently made funds available to enable both teams to honor their matches, while ensuring that players’ welfare is adequately taken care of.
We are proud to have his personality as our Honourable Commissioner".

“This trophy is dedicated to him. We sincerely appreciate his doggedness, commitment, and focus. We pray that God continues to grant him wisdom to lead the youth of Kogi State,” Olachene said.

With the 2026 State FA Cup secured, Kogi United now shifts focus to their promotion push in the ongoing Nationwide League One.

#2026 NLO #: Kogi United FC Secures First Victory, Defeats Fosla FC 3-0

The Kogi United Football Club has kicked off the 2026 Nationwide League One (NLO) season with a resounding 3-0 win over Fosla FC at the Area 3 Football Pitch, FCT Abuja.

The team's impressive performance was fueled by Adama Isaiah's hat-trick, with goals in the 25th minute and two more in the second half.

The Chief Security Officer to former Governor Yahaya Bello, Mr. Abdulmalik SULEIMAN, who attended the match, praised the team's exceptional play, comparing it to European football.

He commended the management team, players, and goalkeeper, Captain Abdulrasheed, and donated N200, 000 to the team.

According to him, the team is more United and disciplined than before, and encouraged them to sustain the tempo in making the State proud.

Team Manager Michael Itodo Olachene warned against complacency, urging the team to maintain the momentum.

While praising players' resilience and determination, the Technical Adviser, Abubakar Musa noted that the current crop of players of the team are ready to change the narrative, and expressed confidence and readiness of the team for future matches.

Kogi United Football Club will now face A. A FC in their second match on the 24th April at the Area 3 Football Pitch, FCT Abuja.

Kogi United FC Gets New Technical Adviser/Head Coach Ahead Of 2025/2026 NLO Season

The Kogi United Football Club has appointed Mr. Musa Abubakar aka Mannaman as their new Technical Adviser, effective January 5th 2026.

Mr. Mannaman, a former Star player of Kogi United FC and Head Coach of Confluence Queens FC, is tasked with leading the team to promotion to the Nigeria National League.

He He replaces Coach Folabi Ojekunle, who was recently redeployed to Confluence Queens F.C.

Mr Mannaman's apointment is based on his impressive track record in football, and he's expected to bring discipline and resilience to the team.

The Chairman of Kogi United FC, Hon. Isah Dolly in a statement congratulated the new Technical Adviser and Head Coach of the Club on his appointment and urged him to give his best at ensuring that the team returns to the Nigeria National League and higher league.

Olamaboro Chairmanship: Hon. Achor Picks Expression Of Interest And Nomination Forms

A Chairmanship Aspirant for Olamaboro Local Government Area, Hon. Emmanuel Achor has purchased his Expression Of Interest And Nomination Forms under the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the Council poll come 2026 in Kogi State.

Hon. Achor whose nomination was a thing of joy for the people of the Area, purchased the forms at the State Party Secretariat in Lokoja, following a Government pronouncement on where the Chairmanship position should be zoned to in Olamaboro Local Government.

Prior to this, there were agitations in some quarters that the Chairmanship position should be zoned to Ogugu district, while others were agitating for the position to be retained by Olamaboro district, a move that was faced with intense opposition.

However, the pronouncement of Hon. Emmanuel Achor, who hails from Ogugu District, as the Chairmanship Aspirant for Olamaboro Local Government under the platform of APC, has finally laid to rest the trouble that was brewing in the local government as the people of the area, particularly the youth have welcome his nomination.

Hon. Achor was accompanied to the APC Secretariat by supporters, loyalists as well as some Councilorship Aspirants from the area.

The Kogi State APC Secretary, Hon. Joshua Emmanuel Onoja who received Hon. Achor cogratulated him and wished him success in the election ahead.

Kogi United FC Beats State NYSC Team In Friendly Match

The Kogi United Football Club, on Tuesday evening, defeated the NYSC State Team in their friendly match at the Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.

The match which was part of the activities marking the 31st anniversary of Kogi United Football Club ended 4 - 0 in favor of KOGI UNITED.

Although, the NYSC State Team made concerted efforts to score or even equalize, they were unable to break through Kogi United’s defense, which held them back throughout the match.

Recall that the Kogi United Football Club had also announced a novelty match against Nurudeen Football Academy, Abuja, as part of its 31st‑anniversary celebrations.

The Team Manager of the Club, Mr. Itodo Michael Olachene in a statement had noted that the novelty match will take place on twenty third of November at Confluence stadium, Lokoja at three o'clock in the afternoon.

SHEROES CUP PRE-SEASON 2025: Confluence Queens FC Records First Victory, Defeats Danaz FC Two Zero

The Confluence Queens Football Club, Lokoja, has recorded their first victory at the ongoing Sheroes Cup Pre-season Tournament, after defeating their opponent, Dannaz Football Club two zero.

The first goal for Confluence Queens FC was secured by Adeyemo Ajoke in the first half of the match, while the second Goal was secured by Emmanuel Senbe in the second half.

All efforts by Dannaz to retaliate proved abortive as the Confluence Queens dominated the game on day one of the Sheroes Cup Pre-season Tournament.

Eailer, the Chairman of Kogi United Football Club, Hon. Isah Abudulmalik Dolly whose presence at the match was a boost for the Confluence Queens, had promised to gift 20, 000 to the players if they win their first match. The chairman after the competition fulfilled his promise to the players.

After the outstanding performance of the Confluence Queens FC at the competition, a player of the club, Hauwa Bashir received best player Award.
