Education in Nigeria just received one of the hardest slaps by the recent job interview organized by Peller, a popular Nigerian TikToker.
Yesterday, I saw one of the videos where he interviewed one Efik girl who also showed up for the interview. While other people saw it as content, I saw it as an insult. I was pi**ed.
It is said that Peller announced a job offer, and the pay is 5OOk monthly to hold a camera for him. And his major requirement was that such a "camera holder" must be a master's degree.
Not an NCE holder
Not an OND holder
Not an HND holder
Not a BSc holder
But a Master's degree holder
And that was very intentional, to rubbish educational achievements. To solidify the popular mentality that "Education is a SCAM"
As expected, 20 Master's degree holders showed up for the Peller's Camera man/woman job offer, where he promised to select only two people out of the 20 people who applied for the job.
I do not have a problem with the job description.
Neither do I have a problem with a Master's degree holder applying for the camera holder job for Peller, after all 5OOk no be small money.
I have a problem with how Peller spoke to them.
Whether Content or not, it was demeaning to watch those so-called interviews.
But again, we are in a country where illiterate are doing so well, such that graduate are scrambling to apply to be their personal assistant.
This is a challenge to graduates, undergraduates and would be undergraduates, in our country today, educations and educational certifications are no more enough. You have to go extra.
You have to do more, else someday, someone who hasn't seen the four walls of a University will make rubbish your education in the name of an employment.
An Educational certificate is enough.
Your University is not preparing you for today's world.
You have to prepare yourself.
Get up and do MORE!
In all, Peller proved one point, your certificate is USELESS if you have no money, cos you can swallow any SH|T for survival!
