Mayor Borana
The title bestowed every intending traditional leader and community head by the Association of Afrikaan Descendants Worldwide to teach African heritage in Ekoate Language and Cultural Academy is the Mayor Borana.
This title is specifically designed to boost the interest of indigenous languages, cultures and traditions for students.
The academia have over the years tried to dismember the traditional institutions for the government absolute control without realizing the importance of African heritage custodianship in the traditional leaders in Africa.
The system of government today is alien to African customs and traditions from ancient civilization.
The election process for traditional leaders is not the same for those in the political government today, yet they were blessed by the colonialists as nationalists to overlord other traditional institutions in Africa.
Hence, the introduction of Afritocracy 4P Ideology governance model in the New Afrikaan Civilization and Development Agenda for Africa 2019 to among other things review the place of traditional leaders in government.
In Nigeria, the National Traditional Rulers Council (NTRC) is being considered after over 100 years of colonial administration in the country stealing and looting the economy in the name of the Commonwealth of Nations where the Common Law traditions exist under the King of England as the Supreme Head of Government.
As part of the NACDAfrica Traditional Language and Cultural Constitution and NACDAfrica Heritage Repository Interactive Forum, the title Mayor Borana is to coordinate the indigenous languages and Cultural Heritage application proposal for Afrikaan Descendants Carnival from 2026 under the purview of the Ekoate Academy Lokoja as a natural resource based for all students in African Studies.

The Kabba–Egbe–Ilorin Road: A Symbol of Federal Neglect and Infrastructure Failure

The Kabba–Egbe–Ilorin road, once a major economic artery linking Kogi and Kwara States to the South-East and South-South, has now become a death trap and a haven for banditry.

Communities along the 230-kilometre stretch lament decades of neglect despite repeated budgetary allocations running into billions of naira for its rehabilitation. According to records, over ₦9 billion was reportedly earmarked more than a decade ago, while the 2025 Appropriation Act also included another ₦8 billion under different headings. Yet, nothing tangible has been done.

In May 2025, contractors briefly mobilized to site after 11 years of absence, only to abandon the project again, dashing the hopes of residents.

The Okun Liberty Association (OLA) has described the highway as “a national socio-economic artery in ruins,” stressing that it has become a “graveyard of commuters, a haven for criminals, and a symbol of national neglect.”

A Corridor of Fear

From Ayetoro-Gbede in Kogi State to Omu-Aran in Kwara State, the failed portions have turned into operational grounds for bandits. Communities like Ejiba, Ẹgbẹ́, Eruku, Eleyin-Ìsìn, and Edidi have witnessed daylight kidnappings, while hinterland settlements such as Ogbom, Okuran, and Ogah in Kogi, as well as Bàbà Sango and Babanla Sagbe in Kwara, live in constant fear.

Tragic incidents underscore the insecurity: on September 10, 2025, three policemen and two vigilantes were killed in Ẹgbẹ́ (Yagba West LGA). Just days later, three mobile policemen were also murdered by bandits in Ilafin, Isanlu (Yagba East LGA).

Security agencies are often unable to respond swiftly due to the deplorable state of the road, creating a vicious cycle where insecurity prevents repairs, and the unrepaired road fuels more insecurity.

Economic Wasteland

Farmers and traders in Kabba, Yagba, Bunu, and Gbede districts are counting huge losses, with post-harvest waste estimated at over ₦20 billion annually. Yams, cassava, maize, and plantain rot in barns as markets in Ilorin, Abuja, and Lagos become inaccessible. Transport fares have doubled, vehicles are routinely damaged, and small businesses are collapsing.

Call for Action

Residents and stakeholders insist that the rehabilitation of the Kabba–Egbe–Ilorin road is not just a matter of infrastructure but of national security, economic survival, and governance credibility.

As President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” emphasizes infrastructure renewal, citizens say restoring this corridor would be a litmus test for his administration’s sincerity.

Anything short of urgent action, they warn, would amount to surrendering a vital highway to criminals and deepening the economic strangulation of communities in Kogi and Kwara States.
