DID YOU KNOW?

The repurposed Confluence Teaching Hospital in Okene, formerly a reference hospital, houses some of the most advanced medical equipment in Africa, serving both as a world-class healthcare facility and a full-fledged training ground for future doctors?

Here are 5 facts about the Teaching Hospital:

1. Transformation into a Teaching Hospital

In December 2024, the Kogi State Government enacted legislation converting the state-of-the-art Reference Hospital in Okene into the CUSTECH Teaching Hospital. This strategic move aligns with the National Universities Commission’s approval for CUSTECH to offer a full-time Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program, among other medical courses.

2. Equipped with Advanced Medical Technology

The CUSTECH Teaching Hospital boasts world-class medical facilities, some of which are debuting for the first time in Africa. This advanced infrastructure is designed to provide top-tier healthcare services and serve as a premier training ground for future medical professionals.

3. Comprehensive Medical Services

Beyond serving as a training institution, the hospital is committed to delivering effective health services to the people of Kogi State and Nigeria at large. It offers facilities for diagnostic, curative, preventive, and rehabilitative services, ensuring holistic healthcare delivery.

4. Hub for Medical Research and Training

The establishment of the teaching hospital underscores CUSTECH’s dedication to medical research and education. It is set to conduct research in medical and related services, taking into account state and national health requirements. Additionally, it will arrange for residency training in all specialties for the fellowship examinations of the National Postgraduate Medical College and the West African Postgraduate Medical College.

5. Strategic Location in Okene

Situated in Okene, the commercial center of Kogi Central Senatorial District, the CUSTECH Teaching Hospital is strategically positioned to serve as a referral center for other hospitals, training, and research institutions. Its location enhances accessibility for both patients and medical trainees.

These developments mark a significant epoch in Kogi State’s commitment to advancing healthcare and medical education, positioning the CUSTECH Teaching Hospital as a bastion of excellence in the region.
