Supreme Court Affirms Ododo as Duly Elected Governor of Kogi State, Dismisses AA, SDP Appeals.

In a landmark judgement, the Supreme Court of Nigeria has affirmed Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo as the duly elected Governor of Kogi State.

In a decisive judgment delivered on Friday, the apex court dismissed the appeal filed by Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Justice Garba Lawal, delivering the lead judgment, ruled that the appeal lacked merit and constituted a gross abuse of court process.

The apex court also dismissed the appeal filed by the candidate of Action Alliance, Olayika Braimoh.

Regarding the respondent’s appeal challenging the date of filing of the appellant’s notice of appeal on 26/07/2024, the court held that the appellant cannot rely on the Interpretation Act to justify filing out of time.

Consequently, the court found the appeal to be incompetent and dismissed it. Additionally, the court imposed a fine of N5,000,000 in favor of the respondent.

The Supreme Court’s unanimous decision upheld the earlier rulings of both the Court of Appeal and the Election Petition Tribunal.

…Bags Top Awards at Nesa Dinner, Attributes Success to Hardwork, Perseverance, Focus and Grace

The Student Union Government (SUG) President of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Comrade Agbo Emmanuel Shaibu, has made history as the first SUG President in the school’s history to potentially graduate with a First Class degree.

This notable achievement was celebrated at the 2024 Nigerian Economics Students Association (NESA) Dinner/Award event, where he received the Academic Excellence and Meritorious Service Awards.

These awards, recognizing his academic prowess and leadership, are based on the last approved results of the 2022/2023 academic session. It is important to note that these results are not final; his 400L first and second semester results are yet to be released.

In his speech, Comrade Shaibu credited his success to hard work, perseverance, focus, and divine grace, urging students to pursue both academic and leadership excellence.

The entire SUG executive team is incredibly proud of Comrade Agbo Emmanuel Shaibu’s achievements and extends their heartfelt congratulations, wishing him continued success in his future endeavors.

Rector Warn Students Against Malpractices as Nigeria-Korea Institute Commence Second Semester Exams

He emphasized that the institution has zero tolerance for crime and criminality.

The Rector noted that the institution has continued to run a timely calendar which is a testament to the balanced academic timing in the state and across all other institutions.

He pointed out that students write their exams in a very conducive environment to ensure that they were given a conducive environment and as such nothing short of excellence was expected from them.
