Sermon
Topic:Start at a Young Age
Text:Luke 2:41–52
Preacher:Rev. Nuhu S. Adamu

Introduction
Beloved, we bless the name of the Lord for bringing us together once again in His presence. Before we go into the Word, I want to joyfully announce that The Living Sound Band, The Chapel of Grace, University of Maiduguri began their powerful concert yesterday and continued today. The program, tagged PUSH – Praise Until Something Happens, has been a great blessing and a charge to us all. Indeed, something happens when we start early to give God our praise and devotion.

Today, our focus is on the theme: Start at a Young Age, drawn from Luke 2:41–52, where the young Jesus, at the age of twelve, stayed behind in the temple, sitting among teachers, listening to them, and asking questions.

Main Message

1. The Example of Jesus at a Young Age
At just twelve years old, Jesus showed us the importance of starting early in seeking God. While others were busy with the feast, He was found in the temple, hungry for knowledge and eager to do His Father’s business. This shows that age is never a barrier to spiritual growth. If Jesus could begin His journey with God at such a young stage, then every child, teenager, and youth here today is called to do the same.

2. Why Start Early?

Foundation Building: Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” What we build early lasts long.
Strength of Youth: Ecclesiastes 12:1 tells us, “Remember your Creator in the days of your youth.” The best years to serve God are not the leftover years, but the strong and energetic years of our youth.
Kingdom Impact:Many of the great men and women of God started their journey early. Samuel served God from his childhood, David trusted God as a young shepherd, and Timothy was commended by Paul for his faith as a young man.

3. Practical Ways to Start Young

* Develop a life of prayer and devotion early.
* Value the Word of God and make it a daily guide.
* Serve in the house of God with your gifts, talents, and time.
* Keep good company friends who love God will help you stay strong in your faith.

4. The PUSH Connection
Just like The Living Sound Band reminded us with their concert theme Praise Until Something Happens - starting early also means learning to PUSH in life. When challenges come, don’t give up. Pray, praise, and persist until God shows up. Young people, let your energy be invested in praising and serving God, not in wasting away in the distractions of the world.

Conclusion
Beloved, starting early with God is the best decision one can ever make. The young Jesus modeled it for us, and today He calls us to follow in His steps. Whether you are a child, youth, or adult, the time to begin is now. Do not wait until tomorrow - because tomorrow is not guaranteed.

Let us therefore rise up and start at a young age, dedicating our strength, time, and lives to the service of God. And as we continue to PUSH - Praise Until Something Happens, may God meet us at the point of our needs and cause His will to be done in our lives.

Prayer
“Lord, help us to seek You early and faithfully. Give our young ones the passion to serve You, our youths the strength to stand for You, and our adults the wisdom to guide the next generation. May our lives glorify You from beginning to the end, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.”

Sermon Title: Support One Another in His Work
Text: Galatians 6:2 - "Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

Today's Message:

As members of the Chapel of Grace, University of Maiduguri, we are reminded of the importance of community and mutual support in our walk of faith. In Galatians 6:2, we are encouraged to "carry each other's burdens," reflecting the law of Christ, which is to love one another.

As we journey together in His work, let us strive to uplift and support each other in prayer, encouragement, and tangible acts of kindness. By doing so, we not only fulfill the law of Christ but also become a beacon of hope and love to those around us.

Reflection:

- How can you support a fellow member today?
- What burdens can you help carry for someone in need?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, grant us the strength and compassion to support one another in His work. May we be vessels of Your love and grace, reflecting Your mercy in our interactions with each other. Amen.

Action Step:

Let us commit to being intentional in supporting one another, whether through a listening ear, a helping hand, or a prayer. Together, we can fulfill the law of Christ and shine His light in our university community.

Sermon Title: "Love Your Neighbor"
Text: Mark 6:30-31
Preacher: Very Rev. Dr. I.U. Ibeme

✍️✍️✍️✍️

"In a world where fences divide, let's build bridges of love; where strangers pass by, let's extend hands of kindness; and where differences seem insurmountable, let's discover the power of loving our neighbors as ourselves."

Sermon:

Dear beloved in Christ,

As we reflect on Mark 6:30-31, we're reminded of the importance of loving our neighbors. In a world plagued by division, hatred, and strife, Jesus' teachings on loving our neighbors are more relevant than ever.

Loving our neighbors isn't just about geographical proximity; it's about seeing the humanity in everyone we meet. It's about recognizing that we're all part of a larger community, connected by our shared experiences, struggles, and hopes.

As followers of Christ, we're called to love beyond borders, beyond differences, and beyond expectations. We love because God first loved us, and His love knows no bounds.

Key Points:

1. Love without boundaries: Jesus teaches us to love without limits, embracing everyone as our neighbor.
2. Seeing humanity: We recognize the inherent value and dignity in every person, regardless of background or circumstances.
3. Practical application: Loving our neighbors means showing kindness, empathy, and compassion in our daily interactions.

Application:

As we strive to love our neighbors, let's ask ourselves:

- How can I show kindness to someone today?
- How can I listen to and understand someone with a different perspective?
- How can I be a bridge-builder in my community?

Conclusion:

Loving our neighbors is not just a commandment; it's a way of life. As we embody this love, we'll become beacons of hope, shining brightly in a world that desperately needs it. May we love without limits, seeing the humanity in everyone, and reflecting the love of Christ to a world in need.

Amen.

LEADERS TRANSFORMED AT GLOBAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT – THE CHAPEL OF GRACE, UNIVERSITY OF MAIDUGURI

The Global Leadership Summit currently ongoing at the Chapel of Grace, University of Maiduguri, has continued to inspire and challenge participants through its impactful sessions. Now four sessions in, the summit has brought together seasoned leaders and speakers from around the world to share deep, practical lessons on leadership and personal growth.

The program began with David Ashcraft, President and CEO of the Global Leadership Network, who delivered a thought-provoking session titled “The Hidden Force That Can Destroy Your Legacy.” He warned that leadership is not only about what is seen in public, but also what happens in private. He emphasized that small cracks in character or discipline can slowly erode years of impact if not addressed. His message called for leaders to remain vigilant, humble, and committed to doing the right thing even when no one is watching.

Arthur C. Brooks, a Harvard Professor and bestselling author, followed with a session on “Getting Happier in an Unhappy World.” Brooks spoke about the emotional side of leadership, stressing that leaders who are emotionally healthy are more effective and resilient. He encouraged participants to pursue happiness not through success or material gain, but through strong relationships, a sense of purpose, and daily gratitude. His message was a timely reminder that leadership is also about the heart.

In one of the most energetic talks so far, Erwin Raphael McManus, founder of The Arena Mastermind and bestselling author, spoke on “Seven Frequencies of Communication.” He explored the different ways leaders can communicate beyond words through presence, energy, intention, and empathy. His session pushed attendees to consider how their leadership voice can be clearer and more impactful when they learn to tune into the right frequency with others.

With each session, participants have left feeling motivated and challenged to take their leadership to the next level not just in skill, but in mindset and character. The summit at the Chapel of Grace, University of Maiduguri, continues to be a platform for equipping leaders for greater influence, both within the church and beyond. As the program continues, more lives are expected to be touched, more visions sharpened, and more leaders transformed.

Sermon: "Unity in Diversity" (Ephesians 4:1-6)

Introduction:
Today, we explore the powerful theme of unity in diversity, as outlined in Ephesians 4:1-6. Despite our differences, God calls us to live in harmony, bound by love and peace. Just as the morning rain couldn't stop us from gathering, our differences shouldn't hinder our unity in Christ.

Key Points:
1. Humility and Gentleness (Ephesians 4:2) - We are called to live with humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with one another in love.
2. One Body, One Spirit (Ephesians 4:4) - We are all part of one body, united by the same Spirit. Our diversity is celebrated, but our unity is essential.
3. One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism (Ephesians 4:5) - Our foundation is the same Lord, the same faith, and the same baptism. This unites us beyond our differences.
4. One God and Father (Ephesians 4:6) - We all have the same Father, who is over all, through all, and in all. This truth binds us together in perfect unity.

Application:
- Embrace Differences: Just as the body of Christ has different parts, we each bring unique gifts and perspectives. Let's celebrate and utilize these differences for the greater good.
- Practice Love and Patience: In our daily interactions, let's strive to bear with one another, showing love and patience, even when it's challenging.
- Focus on What Unites Us: Our shared faith, baptism, and Lord are the glue that holds us together. Let's focus on these unifying factors rather than our differences.

Conclusion:
Unity in diversity is not just a concept; it's a divine call. As we leave this place, let's commit to living out this unity, reflecting the body of Christ in all we do. May our diversity be a strength, not a weakness, as we stand united in the love of Christ.

Final Thought:
"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." - Ephesians 4:3

May God bless us as we strive for unity in diversity, and may His love guide us every step of the way.
