Troops, CJTF Intercept Boko Haram Logistics Movement, Neutralise Terrorist in Yobe

Troops of the Nigerian Army Operation Hadin Kai, in conjunction with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), have intercepted a Boko Haram logistics movement along the Gashua-Buni Gari axis in Yobe State, killing one terrorist and recovering items, including a motorcycle.

Sources told Zagazoma Makama that the operation followed credible intelligence on the movement of insurgents attempting to transport supplies through the route.

The troops, deployed in the Gashua area for ongoing counterinsurgency operations, engaged the terrorists in a brief but decisive encounter, resulting in the neutralisation of of the terrorist while others insurgents fled.

“A motorcycle and other logistics items were recovered during the encounter. The swift action of the troops and local vigilantes thwarted the movement of critical supplies meant for Boko Haram cells operating in the area,sources added.

Security forces rescue four abducted illegal miners in Zamfara, others still in captivity

Atleast four abducted youths were rescued following a swift joint operation involving the troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA, police personnel, members of the Civilian Protection Group (CPG), and local hunters.

Zagazola Makama was informed that the incident occurred on June 17, when eight boys from Alasanawa village in Moriki District, Zurmi Local Government Area, were reportedly abducted by armed bandits while engaging in illegal mining activities in Alawa bush, near the notorious Hawan Bakwai black spot.

The operatives engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, successfully rescuing four of the abducted boys while efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining four victims still held in captivity.

FCT police arrest notorious kidnapping kingpin, recover weapon

The Nigerian Police Force(NPF), FCT command has arrested a second key suspect in connection with a series of high-profile kidnappings across Abuja and neighbouring states.

Police sources told Zagazola Makama that he arrest, which was effected on June 17 at about 4:30 p.m., followed the earlier apprehension of one Y’au Sh*ttu, 27, on June 13. Acting on forensic intelligence, operatives of the Command’s Scorpion Squad led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey tracked and arrested one Sale Usman, 30, a native of Niger State and resident of Shishipe village, Mpape.

Police sources said the suspect is a notorious kidnapper linked to multiple abductions, including the kidnapping and subsequent murder of a pastor, the abduction of a woman for whom ₦10 million ransom was paid, and the kidnapping of three children during which their father was killed for resisting the criminals.

During interrogation, Usman reportedly confessed to his involvement in the crimes and provided critical information on the identities and whereabouts of other fleeing gang members.

A dagger was recovered during the arrest, and efforts are ongoing to recover more weapons and apprehend the remaining suspects.

Police foil kidnapping attempt in katsina, rescue three women and baby

The Police in Katsina has foiled a kidnapping attempt in Mazare village, Sabuwa Local Government Area, rescuing three women and a baby girl unhurt during a gun battle with suspected bandits.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 12:21 a.m. on June 17 when armed men suspected to be bandits stormed the village and attempted to abduct residents.

Police sources said that upon receiving the distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Sabuwa mobilized and led a team of officers in Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) patrol vehicles to the scene, where they engaged the assailants in a fierce gun duel.

“During the confrontation, the operatives successfully rescued three women and an infant girl who were taken by the bandits. Two residents Saidu Isa, and Saidu Wa’alam, sustained injuries during the attack and were rushed to Haske Private Hospital, Sabuwa, for medical attention.

The sources efforts are being sustained to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects and restore calm to the affected community.

Father kills 18-year-old daughter in kano

A 60-year-old man, Adamu Mohammed, has allegedly killed his 18-year-old daughter, Zainab Adamu, during a domestic altercation at their residence in Dawakin Dakata Quarters, Kano.

Zagazola Makama learnt that the tragic incident reportedly occurred around 5:00 a.m. on Monday, when the father struck the young girl with a hard object, leaving her unconscious. A concerned resident raised an alarm about two hours later, leading to swift action by members of the community.

The sources said that the scene was promptly visited by the police. The unconscious victim was rushed to Sir Sunusi Specialist Hospital, where she was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

The remains of the deceased have been released to her family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.

Police sources said that the suspect has been taken into custody while investigation is ongoing to determine the motive behind the act.

Community sources described the incident as deeply shocking and called for increased awareness and intervention to address the rising cases of domestic violence, particularly those involving family members.

Nigerian Military troops Clashes with Boko Haram in Attempt to Infiltrate Naval Base Lake Chad

The Maritime Component of Operation Hadin Kai, in the early hours of Wednesday responded to an attempted infiltration by suspected Boko Haram terrorists on the Naval Base Lake Chad, located at Fish Dam, Baga, in Kukawa Local Government Area.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the terrorists, who reportedly stormed the facility around 0100 hours, attempted to sabotage newly acquired Swamp Boggeys recently procured by the Borno State Government to aid waterways clearance in the Lake Chad region.

Sources said that the attack triggered a heavy gunbattle with the naval personnel, with reinforcement arriving from nearby Baga. The exchange of gunfire lasted for over two hours before the terrorists retreat.

"Although the base resisted the incursion, minimal damage was recorded. An ambulance and two other vehicles were destroyed, while some personnel sustained injuries during the engagement," the source disclosed.

The Swamp Boggeys, however, remained intact and were not accessed by the attackers.

As of the time of filing this report, the Air Component Command (ACC) is said to be conducting follow-on pursuit and exploitation operations along the Lake Chad waterways to track down and neutralize the fleeing terrorists.

More details of the attack is still being obtained.

NAF deploys more aircraft to North-Central region to bolster peace efforts

As part of efforts to restore peace across the North-Central region, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has deployed additional air assets under Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS). The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, visited Tactical Air Command, Makurdi, today, 17 June 2025, to assess operational effectiveness. In a joint high-level meeting with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede; a representative of the Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Olusegun Ferreira; and other key commanders, updates were provided on the heightened tempo of joint operations in Benue, Nasarawa, and Taraba States.

The CAS revealed that the newly deployed aircraft have enhanced operational reach, delivering real-time intelligence, close air support, and precision strikes that have dismantled militia camps and criminal hideouts. He emphasized that these actions align with the Federal Government’s drive to stabilise the Middle Belt and reaffirmed NAF’s resolve to protect innocent lives and maintain pressure on all threat actors until peace is fully restored.

The Service Chiefs jointly underscored the importance of synergy among the Armed Forces, highlighting that jointness remains key to operational success. They assured Nigerians that current operations are part of a wider strategy to ensure residents can live and work without fear. Air Marshal Abubakar reaffirmed, “As long as peace is threatened, our resolve remains unshaken.”

In continuation of the ongoing Operation KALACHEN WUTA, the Nigerian Military’’s Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) has recorded another decisive success following a well-coordinated air interdiction mission on a newly established base of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) located at Baikee Forest in the general area of Sambisa, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Zagazola Makama reports from a credible impeccable sources that the mission was executed with precision on ISWAP terrorists who had converged within the forest axis of Izge–Pridang–Baikee, where they were in the process of fortifying their newly established camp and planning coordinated attacks on nearby civilian communities, especially Izge town.

The sources said that the strikes, supervised by Maj Gen Abdulsalam Abubakar, Theartre Commander North East Joint Task Force Operation Hadin, and executed by the Air Component Commander Operation Hadin Air Commodore UU Idris, on June 13, 2025 in successive waves, delivered multiple hits on the terrorists' gatherings, destroying key logistical assets and neutralizing several high-value ISWAP leaders.

Battle Damage Assessment conducted by sources confirmed that the group suffered heavy casualties.

Notably, intelligence sources further confirmed that the notorious ISWAP general leader, Abu Moussab al-Barnawi, sustained serious injuries to his face and upper limbs during the airstrikes. His current medical and operational status remains uncertain.

The successful neutralization of the terrorist elements and disruption of their regrouping efforts has diminished their fighting capacity and plunged into disarray.

The ground and Air component troops of Operation Hadin Kai have been urged to remain vigilant and continue to maintain dominance in the theatre to deny terrorists the freedom of action, degrade their capabilities, and support in ensuring lasting peace in the region.

NSCDC personnel brutally attack police inspector in Gombe, inflicting severe injuries

Police in Gombe State have launched a manhunt for two NSCDC personnel involved in a conspiracy and attack on a police inspector.

Zagazola Makama was informed from a reliable sources that on June 15, 2025, at about 2000 hours, Umar Ahmadu, Al’azeez, and Abdulrasheed all members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) attached to Dukku Road Office in Gombe allegedly attacked Inspector Mohammed Jungudo with a jackknife, inflicting severe injuries in various parts of his body.

The injured Inspector Jungudo is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe, while the suspects remain at large.

Security forces rescue two abducted victims in Zamfara

Security forces in Zamfara have rescued two victims abducted by suspected bandits in Moriki District, Zurmi Local Government Area of the state, authorities said on Tuesday.

Zagazola Makama learnt that the incident occurred at about 7:00 a.m. on June 16, 2025, when suspected armed bandits attacked farmers along Dunfawa–Alawa Road in Moriki and abducted five persons.

In a separate attack, another group of bandits abducted two farmers in Tudun Moriki.

The combined troops alongside members of the CPG (Civilian Protection Group) and engaged the suspects in a gun duel.

This resulted in the rescue of Malam Adamu Kasimu and Ibrahim Haruna, while efforts are ongoing to rescue the rest of the victims.

Police rescue kidnapped colleague unhurt in Katsina

The police in Katsina has successfully rescued a police constable who was abducted by suspected armed bandits two months ago.

A sources told Zagazola Makama that a Police Constable Nura Ibrahim attached to Danmusa Division, was kidnapped by suspects along Danmusa to Yantumaki road at about 18:40 hours on April 15, 2025.

The sources said Constable Nura Ibrahim was rescued unhurt on June 16, 2025, at about 19:00 hours and subsequently taken to Danmusa General Hospital for medical evaluation and observation.
