Bama LGA Chairman Visits YEDC to Address Power Supply Challenges

The Executive Chairman of Bama Local Government Area (LGA), Hon. Baba Gana Barma, paid an official visit to the regional office of the Yerwa Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) to discuss the persistent power supply challenges affecting Bama and its surrounding communities.

The Chairman was received by the Regional Manager, Mallam Mahmud Sajo, who warmly welcomed him and his delegation.

During the meeting, Hon. Baba Gana Barma expressed concern over the irregular electricity supply in Bama LGA and sought clarification on the factors contributing to the situation. He reaffirmed the commitment of the local government to supporting initiatives aimed at improving electricity service delivery in the area.

The Chairman further stated that the local government was prepared to provide logistical support where necessary, particularly if economic challenges facing electricity consumers in Bama were among the factors affecting service delivery. He assured the company of the council’s willingness to collaborate in addressing the challenges and enhancing power supply to the community.

In his response, the Regional Manager, Mallam Mahmud Sajo, expressed the company’s readiness to work closely with the local government in finding lasting solutions to the electricity supply issues facing Bama LGA.

In a related development, Hon. Baba Gana Barma met with a YEDC power supply monitoring team along the Bama–Maiduguri Road. During the encounter, he pledged to support the team with the necessary logistics to strengthen their operations and contribute to a more stable electricity supply in Bama township.

The Chairman was accompanied on the visit by the Special Assistant on Special Duties, Muhammad Alhaji Bukar; the Personal Assistant to the Executive Chairman, Ahmed Ngalama; and other government officials.

BORNO POLICE RESCUE KIDNAPPED 6-YEAR-OLD BOY, ARREST SUSPECT IN MAIDUGURI

The Borno State Police Command under the leadership of CP Naziru Abdulmajid Psc has successfully rescued a 6-year-old boy who was kidnapped in Maiduguri and arrested the suspect responsible for the crime.

On 7th June, 2026, at about 1400hrs, the Command received a report regarding a missing child, one Alkali Musa, a 6-year-old boy of Mafoni Area, Maiduguri, who had gone out to play on 6th June, 2026, but failed to return home. Preliminary investigation revealed that shortly after the child’s disappearance, the suspect contacted the parents and demanded a ransom of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (₦200,000) for the child’s release.

Upon receipt of the complaint, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Lamisula Division promptly mobilized a team of detectives and commenced an intelligence-led operation. The efforts yielded positive results as the suspect, one Ali Alhaji Ali, was apprehended and the victim was rescued unharmed.

The suspect have confessed to the crime and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and possible prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Command, CP Naziru Abdulmajid psc, commended the swift response of the officers involved in the operation and reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state. The Command further urges parents and guardians to remain vigilant and closely monitor their children, while encouraging members of the public to promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.
