Solidarity Forever: Who Do We Blame in Gwoza attacks?
Muhammad Albarno
In a country with the highest population, in a state we claim the Vice-President comes from, and in a local government we pride ourselves on having the Senate Chief Whip, we are the true Nigerians but live in fear.
Where and how do we express this to others? Since 2013, our area has been suffering from Boko Haram crises. As a result, we have lost many things, including development, education, farming, and other essential aspects of life that we in Gwoza depend on.
Each year, the crisis takes on a new form. Last year, we suffered from attacks on farmers, and this year began with bomb blasts, causing the deaths of many people.
Now, who do we blame? The federal government or the state? People might think we are not important to Nigerians. How, then, did we produce the Senate Chief Whip? Should we blame our Senate or our House of Representatives?
These questions bring great confusion to our minds. We live but barely speak. We are dying like animals, and our lips are sealed with fear. We need to live like others and feel like others. Our hearts are completely broken, and we don't know the way out of this.
