JUST IN: Shettima To Lead Nigeria’s Delegation To 8th UN General Assembly

Vice-President Kashim Shettima will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly holding in New York, between Monday, September 22 and Sunday 28, 2025.

Office of The Vice President, in a statement, said Shettima is scheduled to join other leaders at the global event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United Nations slated for Monday, September 22 at the UN headquarters in New York.

A Leader Who Fails To Perform Should Be Voted Out - Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has said any leader who fails to perform should be voted out of office if proper elections were conducted.
Describing electoral manipulation as one of the biggest threats to democracy in Africa, he said unless stakeholders come together to rethink and reform democracy, it may collapse in Africa.

Jonathan spoke at the 2025 edition of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation (GJF) Democracy Dialogue, held in Accra, Ghana.

In a statement on Saturday, Communications Officer at Goodluck Jonathan Foundation, Mr Wealth Dickson Ominabo, quoted the former President as saying that where democracy fails to meet expectations, desperation can open the door to authoritarianism.

“I Won’t Impose Commissioners on Fubara!” - Wike

FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has cleared the air, saying he will not impose commissioners on Governor Sim Fubara.

Wike stated during an interview on Channels TV that Fubara has a free hand to choose his team and lead Rivers State his own way. He emphasized:

“I have no candidate. All I want is for the governor to move the state forward.”

This comes shortly after President Bola Tinubu lifted the six-month suspension and reinstated Governor Fubara back to office.

Wike also revealed he could have prolonged the state of emergency but chose peace, saying some people prefer crisis because they benefit from it.

Governor Fubara has now returned to Government House to resume duties as the democratically elected governor.

JUST IN: Cameroon President's Daughter Tells People Not To Vote For Her Father, Wants His Rule To End Over Hardship In The Country

Brenda Biya, the daughter of Cameroonian President Paul Biya, the world’s oldest leader, has urged people not to vote for her father in the October presidential election.

In a video on social media, she said she no longer sees herself as part of the presidential family and will refuse any support from her parents.

Brenda apologized to Cameroonians for the hàrm caused by her father and called for change.

2027: Seyi Tinubu Can Challenge His Father In The Next Election Including Lagos Governorship – Presidency

The Presidency, through the Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has said that Seyi Tinubu is qualified to run for any political office in the country, including the governorship of Lagos State.
Bwala made this known in an interview on The Clarity Zone podcast posted on YouTube on Wednesday.

He dismissed claims that Seyi’s political involvement is only tied to his father’s position, saying the president’s son has built his own image among young people.
“If Seyi Tinubu’s father is the president, what stops him from running for Lagos State governor? Seyi Tinubu can even challenge his father in the next election,” Bwala said.

He said Seyi has kept friendships over the years and has supported young people to access opportunities in government across party lines.

He also noted that Seyi has not been linked to scandals common with children of past Nigerian leaders.

You will never see him attacking people on social media, even though his father is one of the most vilified in recent memory. He has built relationships even with critics of this government,” Bwala said.

Bwala urged Nigerians to assess Seyi based on direct encounters rather than assumptions.
