Simon Ekpa Arrested in Finland : Finnish Authorities Detain Biafra Agitator Over Terrorism Allegations

Nigerian-born politician Simon Ekpa has been detained in Finland on charges of inciting terrorism and promoting separatist violence. 🚨

Ekpa, who calls himself the “Prime Minister” of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile (BRGIE), is accused by Finnish authorities of using social media to spread propaganda and incite unrest in Nigeria. From Lahti, where he serves on the city’s public transport committee, Ekpa allegedly coordinated efforts to disrupt Nigerian elections and justify violence in the southeast.

The Finnish police also arrested four other suspects for alleged terrorism financing, further linking Ekpa’s activities to international scrutiny. This isn't Ekpa’s first controversy—he was previously detained in 2023 for suspected fundraising fraud and has repeatedly called for election boycotts in Nigeria.

This case highlights the dangers of using social media to fuel extremism and raises questions about his role in stoking unrest back home while living abroad.

What are your thoughts on Simon Ekpa’s actions and their impact on Nigeria? Drop your comments below!
