National Youth Council of Nigeria appoints Ezekiel Ezekiel Udofia as Member, National Transition Committee

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in an extraordinary stakeholders meeting held on the 7th of August, 2025 at Prof. O.A. Afolabi ICT Hall, Federal Ministry of Youth Development, FCT Abuja appoints Chairman and members of the National Transition Committee of the body as follows: Gbenga Adedamola (South-West) as Chairman, Ibrahim Yahayah Baba (North - Central) Secretary, while Ms Oluwatoyin Owoeye (South - West), Ms Jemimah Afe Libere (North - Central), Ms Deborah Evbotokhai (South - South), Ezekiel Ezekiel Udofia (aka Don Peters) (Representing South - South), Muhammad Abdullahi Sule (North - West), Lamir Aminu (North - West), Saad Muhammed Dodo (North - East), Muhammed Muazu (North - East), Mbah Nelson (South - East), Stanley Onyemaechi (South - East) and Ms Sarah Manasseh (VYOs Representative) will serve as members .

The meeting which was convened by the consensus of vast majority of membership organs and Stakeholders of the organization to consider and resolve the lingering challenges hindering the smooth functioning of the council .

The National Management Committee meeting was well attended by over 25 state chapters and 61 members organizations, as well as some past national leaders and was Co-chaired by 2 former Presidents, Sir Ben Duntoye and Comrade Olawale James Ajani. The Management critically reviewed the present state of the council, particularly on the circumstances surrounding recent scandal against the President and the National executive Council (NEC) over the 2018 NYCON Constitution, (as amended), the purported de-affilliation and new affiliation of 180 organization, and the unilateral increase of the youth age bracket from 18 - 35 to 18 - 45 years.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCON) leadership was also ratified by the National Management Committee in the meeting.

St.Columbanus Secondary School, Ikwen receives commendation for academic feat

St. Columbanus Secondary School, Ikwen, in the Catholic Diocese of Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, has received numerous commendations and congratulatory messages from prominent Individuals, Educationist, Agencies and Institutions over the impressive results recorded by this school in many National and International Exams this year.

The latest among these comes from a US-based Golden Jubilee Alumnus of the school - DR. VICTOR MBABA, who commended the school on the outstanding performance in the recently released 2025 WASCE where the school flooded their score-card with ALPHAS. In his remarks, this proud Alumnus, whose class of 1975 is celebrating the Golden Jubilee of their graduation from SCOSSI, this year, was particularly impressed about the consistency in the Rev. Fr. Emem Umoren-led administration to position and sustain St. Columbanus Secondary School, Ikwen as an indisputable frontline destination of academic excellence and moral formation needed in our society today.

It is on record that St. Columbanus is known for consistent academic prominence. This year, between GCE, WAEC, NECO, SAT, CAMBRIDGE CHECKPOINT, O’LEVELS and A’LEVELS CAMBRIDGE, the results already released record a 100% in those exams. Dr. Victor Mbaba was thrilled to note that SCOSSI CLASS OF 2025 scored all ALPHAS in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Civic Education, CRS, History, Financial Accounting, Commerce, Marketing, and Electrical Installations. They also harvested more ALPHAS than CREDITS in English, Government, Literature and Economics etc. This didn’t come by chance. They all worked for it. Given the performance of SCOSSI students in the last JAMB with many scoring very high and some scoring 300 and above, even without the NECO result that is still expected, it is uniquely impressive to note that every student of that class already has all it takes to proceed for University Admission. This is the school for goal-getters.

Accepting the message of Congratulations, the Principal, Rev. Fr. Emem Umoren, thanked Dr. Mbaba for being a distinguished Alumnus of SCOSSI in the US. He attributed the success story of SCOSSI to God, hard work on the part of students and teachers, and unique sacrifice of the parents. Fr. Emem, who is confident that, this year again, some of his students will secure Admission to study in prominent Universities in Nigeria and abroad, was all thanks to the Proprietor, Bishop Camillus R. Umoh, the Diocesan Education Commission, and his Administrative team for sustaining the high academic standard in SCOSSI. Fr. Emem also announced that St. Columbanus would celebrate the Class of 2025 publicly during the forth-coming Feast of the school patron Saint in November. Through Dr. Victor Mbaba, FR. Emem used that opportunity to invite all surviving members of the class of 1975 for a well deserved honour of celebrating their Golden Jubilee thanksgiving in the school in November 2025.

The political leader of Esit Eket, Sir (Dr.) Bassey Dan-Abia, a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Akwa Ibom State and former Acting Chairman/Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) On behalf of his family and the entire Progressives fold in Esit Eket Local Government Area, welcome His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno PhD and his entourage to Eket Federal Constituency Arise Town Square Meeting/Empowerment Series slated to hold at Eket Cenotaph on Saturday 2nd August, 2025.

He lauded His Excellency humane disposition and visionary leadership towards repositioning Akwa Ibom State in line with the "Arise Agenda" philosophy.

Sir Dan-Abia, in a message issued through his Special Assistant on Media, Mr David Bassey Morrow said that the Governor's plan visit to Eket Federal Constituency is remarkable, considering His Excellency's drive in expanding development to the rural communities across the state. Sir Barr. Bassey Dan-Abia joins APC Conference of Leaders in Abuja.

Today was a behive of activities at National Headquarters of our great Party, the All Progressives Congress in Abuja. The All Progressives Conference Leader in Esit Eket, Sir ( Dr) Dan-Abia was part of the Leaders of APC who congregated today in Abuja to conclude the Screening exercise for a candidates who will participate in various Legislative elections both at State and National levels in selected States in Nigeria.

At the end of the exercise Sir Dan Abia signed Condolence Register in honor of our late President Mohammadu Buhari GCFR. He subsequently paid Courtesy visits to The Ag National Chairman of APC, Alhaji Bukar Dalori in his office as well as The Deputy National Organising Secretary. Chief (Dr) Bassey Dan-Abia bags NDDC Outstanding Leadership Award

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) had on Saturday 12th of July 2025 honoured Sir Bassey Dan-Abia, the former Managing Director of the commission alongside other past Chairmen, CEO & Managing Directors of the Commission in a well attended Gala & Awards Night held at the EUI Event Centre, Sani Abacha Road, GRA Port Harcourt, Rivers State

The Investiture ceremony was the highpoint of the weeklong activities to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Commission. The event also witnessed cultural displays from the Nine Niger Delta States and beauty pageant.

Hence, the conferment of the Award of Outstanding Leadership in the Niger Delta Regions on Sir Bassey Dan-Abia is in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the Regions.

It could be recalled that Chief Dan Abia was appointed the MD/CEO of The Commission in December 2013 by the then President and Commander-in-Chief of The Federal Republic of Nigeria , Goodluck Jonathan, GCFR for a term of 4 years . However his tenure was truncated prematurely in 2015 due to regime change in Nigeria.
Before his appointment to the exalted position of MD/CEO of the Commission, Sir Dan-Abia, had served as the Representative of Akwa Ibom State In The Governing Board of NDDC as well as The Ag. Chairman of the Commission.

Other recipients of the awards were Chief Onyema Ugochukwo, Former Board Chairman of the commission from 2000 to 2004, Amb. NDDC Sets to Honour Sir Bassey Dan-Abia, KJW with Outstanding Leadership Award

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as part of the activities to commemorate her 25th anniversary sets to honour Sir (Dr) Bassey Dan-Abia, KJW the former Managing Director of NDDC with the Outstanding Leadership in Niger Delta region.

The commission would be hosting a Gala/Awards Night on the 12th July, 2025 at the EUI Event Center, Plot F11, Sani Abacha Road, GRA Phase 3, Port Harcourt, Rivers State which would be the Grand Finale of the weeklong event.

According to the letter signed by The Managing Director/Chief Executive officer of The Commission dated 2nd June, 2025, the Award is in recognition of his OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE NIGER DELTA REGION.

It was during his tenure that decentralization policy which gave state officies in the region enormous powers to operate was approved.

Sir Dan-Abia,s tenure is widely regarded as one of the most peaceful and memorable period in the commission. His youth- friendly policies has endeared him to the youth of the region who see him as a mentor and their hero. It’s no surprise that this great man is top on the list of those to be honored by the commission in commemoration of its 25th Anniversary

SCOSSI UNVEILS ANOTHER UNIQUE SCORE IN 2025 JAMB MOP-UP EXAMS.
MASTER JOHN PAUL OKOKON SMILES HOME WITH AGGREGATE 328

With the release of the result of the 2025 JAMB MOP-UP Exams, St. Columbanus has harvested two more top scores in addition to the 25 already unveiled. In the result recently announced, both candidates- MASTER INI-IDARA DAVID EKWERE and MASTER JOHN-PAUL OKOKON, who were both scheduled for the mop-up exams after their unsuccessful machine verification during the main exams, now have reasons to smile home with a result that is worth the wait, the patience, and the anxiety. While INI-IDARA scored Aggregate 260, JOHN-PAUL scored 328 (_with an impressive 96% in Physics_) making the total number of SCOSSI students that scored from 250 above increase to 27 - two of whom scored over 300, (JOSEPHINE ADAEZE TOBE-EZENWA = 312; and JOHN PAUL OKOKON = 328). The Management of SCOSSI congratulates the latest JAMBITES and tasks them to keep the flag flying in their WAEC and NECO and especially in the next level of their education. SCOSSI is poised to make a positive difference in the educational standard of our young people. The best is yet to come… We will not relent. Our goal is to be better defined by EXCELLENCE…😀🙏🏻

The former Attorney General/Commissioner of Justice, Akwa Ibom State, former Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Honourable Federal Commissioner Representing South-South geopolitical Zone, Chief (Dr) Bassey Dan-Abia, KJW was among the party bigwigs that attended the Grand Reception of His Excellency Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, PhD held on the 21st of June at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

While speaking with Medialink reporter, Sir Bassey Dan-Abia, KJW lauded the vision of Governor Umo Eno to align the state with the centre. Stressing that the alignment will give way to more positive development that would have hitherto elude the state.

He also commended the President of the Ten Senate, Distinguished Senator, Godswill Akpabio, GCON for assuring the people of Akwa Ibom State that the marriage will aid the actualization of the long awaited Ibom Deep Seaport to boost the blue economy in the country. Adding that with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Senate President, Chief (Dr) Godswill Akpabio, GCON and Governor, Pastor Umo Eno working together the state will witness a remarkable development.

Sir, Dan-Abia, stated that His Excellency, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno meant well for the state in his effort at uniting the state into one fold. Stressing that the Governor's choice of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is the best decision for the state.
