On the 16th of May, 2025 at around 3:00am, a female student of Benue State University, Makurdi, was brutally attacked and robbed in her residence at Cornerstone Academy, Gyado Villa, Makurdi. The assailants made away with two of her handbags, one footwear, and the sum of ₦25,000. She sustained serious injuries during the incident.

I was informed of the incident in the morning by one of my appointees. Without delay, we proceeded to her residence. I spoke with the victim and personally assessed her condition. I immediately contacted the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of E’ Division to report the matter. He instructed that the victim be brought to the station at E’ Division, Akpehe.

Upon our arrival, I noticed some delays in the process, which prompted me to contact the Commissioner of Police directly. The Commissioner responded swiftly, ordered an immediate investigation, and ensured that the welfare of the victim was prioritized. The DPO assigned two officers to accompany us to the scene of the incident.

The Commissioner of Police has assured me that no effort will be spared until the perpetrators of this heinous act are apprehended and brought to justice.
