Plans are underway to resubmit a fresh petition seeking to recall Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Kogi Central (PDP). Sandra Musa, who spoke on behalf of the petitioners on the TVC breakfast show on Friday, April 4th, 2025, disclosed this.
While appearing on the programme, Sandra insisted there is no going back on the process of recalling Sen. Natasha.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said on 3rd April 2025 that the petition for the recall of the Kogi Central Senatorial District Senator did not meet the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of Nigeria 1999 (as amended). The Section provides for the removal of a member of a National Assembly.
In rejecting the petition, INEC said it ascertained 208,132 signatures/thumbprints from the petitioners' submission, translating to 43.86% of the registered voters. However, the figure fell short of the constitutional requirement by 29,146 signatories, the statement by INEC indicated.
However, Sandra says "It doesn't mean that the process has been put on a halt, and so we are believing that once we are able to meet up with the level of compliance that they need for it to be adequate, the process will definitely take its course."
Sandra, along with a faction from Kogi Central Senatorial District known as the Concerned Kogi Youth and Women, submitted a petition to INEC on 24 March this year to recall the embattled Senator Natasha.
