What the Police are not allowed to do during an Arrest

🥢 They CANNOT arrest you over civil matters
The police have no business arresting anyone because of:
debts
rent issues
boyfriend–girlfriend quarrels
business disagreements
“He insulted me”
Those are civil matters. The police exist for crime, not private disputes.

🥢 They CANNOT beat, slap, torture, or brutalize you
No officer has the right to “discipline” you.
Torture is illegal whether physical, verbal, or psychological. Even if you’re a suspect, you are still entitled to dignity under the law.

🥢 They CANNOT search your phone without your consent or a warrant
Your phone is private property. They cannot forcefully open your messages, read your chats,
go through your gallery, access your banking apps
unless there is a lawful basis like a court warrant or immediate suspicion connected to the crime they stopped you for.

🥢 They CANNOT detain you longer than 24–48 hours without charging you
They cannot keep you indefinitely. If there is evidence, charge you. If there is no evidence, release you. Keeping you beyond the constitutional time frame becomes unlawful detention.

🥢 They CANNOT refuse you access to your lawyer or family
You have the right to call a lawyer
speak with someone close to you, have legal representation during interrogation, blocking this right is unconstitutional.

🥢 They CANNOT force you to sign a statement
Not even “just write your side.” Not even “sign here.” Your statement must be voluntarily written by you, made without threat, pressure, or intimidation
If you’re not comfortable, you can say:
“I prefer to remain silent until my lawyer arrives.”

🥢 They CANNOT arrest you without telling you the reason
They must state the offence clearly.
You cannot be arrested based on guesswork, vibes, or “follow me to the station first.”

🥢 They CANNOT search your body disrespectfully
Women must be searched by female officers.
No officer can conduct a degrading or inappropriate search the law forbids it.

🥢 They CANNOT use arrest as a tool of intimidation
Police power is for public safety not for settling scores, collecting “bail money,” or harassing citizens.

🥢 They CANNOT demand money for bail
Bail is FREE.
Whether the case is minor or serious. Any officer demanding money for bail is breaking the law.

Police officers have authority but that authority has boundaries. When you know those boundaries, you protect yourself because the difference between obedience and oppression is simply knowing your rights.

IMPORTANT 65TH NIGERIA INDEPENDENCE MESSAGE TO THE GOOD PEOPLE OF NIGERIA
By Sen. Prof. D.I. Saror

My independence message to my fellow Good People.

We know that at sometime in our past we had no chiefs, no currency, no Christian religion. All we had was Love for one another. That is when our forefathers moved and captured the Benue Valley where we live today.

No group ever captured us. No group dominated us.

Today we have Government which we control, We have chiefs and we have Christianity yet we are failing as a people. We are being slaughtered like livestock. It seems nobody cares. We are heading to extinction because we have abandoned love in our quest for money.

It is so sad.

Happy 65th independence.

THE HEROISM OF POLICE ASP DAN ZURU & OTHERS AT AGU CENTRE
..How A Gallant Police/ "Anyam Nyór" Operation Took On Hundreds Of Armed Terrorists

In difficult times such as we are in now, we must not take for granted the sacrifices that patriots make in the line of duty, lest the motivation that such sacrifices should give to others be lost.

The supreme price that Police ASP Danlamin Usman aka Dan Zuru and others paid at Agu Centre in armed combat operation against Fulani herdsmen and their bandit and militia allies must not be in vain.

The security operation at Agu Centre in Katsina-Ala LGA of Benue State last Thursday, 19th September, 2025 against armed terrorists by a detachment of the Nigeria Police and the local security task force code named "Anyam Nyór" is worth taking proper note of.

Insider accounts have revealed how the operation led by ASP Dan Zuru, was executed with the sort of bravery that should earn those who fell in action and those who survived it the garlands they deserve.

Dan Zuru had become popular within security circles in the state for his uncommon bravery and serial successess in combat operations, particularly in the Sankera area where he was passionately committed to the fight against banditry and herdsmen terrorism.

With him on the operation was another combatant police veteran popularly known as John Bushman and the Commander of "Anyam Nyór" in Katsina-Ala, Commander Mike Tuurga, leading dozens of battle tested troops riding on motorcycles and 3 trucks including a heavy calibre Gun-truck.

Acting on credible intelligence the operation targeted to dislodge Fulani herdsmen who had retreated to Agu Centre following heavy loses they had suffered at the hands of the same team and units of the the Nigerian Army Operation WhirlStroke in the Utange - Mbatyula axis of Katsina-Ala LGA.

However, the team was apparently not aware of reinforcements recruited by the herdsmen who were joined at Agu Centre by local bandits in the area and hired mercenary militia from neighbouring Taraba State numbering in hundreds.

It was, therefore, a near overwhelming force that Dan Zuru and his team came up against when they got into the engagement envelope at Agu Centre, with the ensuing firefight said to have been bloody.

The enemy force which was reportedly entrenched and lying in wait unleashed heavy calibre automatic fire including with AK 47s, SMGs and Rocket Propelled Gr***de launchers (RPG) against Dan Zuru and his men who took cover and returned fire.

At this point professional combat training and experience is said to have weighed in favour of the gallant security forces, who though heavily outnumbered, were able to hold the terrorists and their allies at bay.

Dan Zuru, Tuurga, Bushman and a crack team around them are said to have kept the engagement envelope saturated with covering fire while he gave the orders for a retreat, and it was in the course of this that Commander Tuurga is said to have been shot in the arm.

The terrorists sensing a breach in the defence shield from the engle of fire earlier covered by the wounded Commander Tuurga had surged forward, but Bushman is said to have dashed forward, ducking under a hail of fire to take control of the Gun-truck which gunner might have gone down under the initial fire.

Bushman engaging the MG on the Gun-truck had reportedly wrecked havock on the enemy, giving Tuurga and others the needed covering fire to retreat into escape, with Dan Zuru still pinning down the main body of terrorists under withering fire.

It was when the chain ammunition feeding the MG on the Gun-truck had ran out and Bushman, without the assistance of a gunhand had no time to quickly enough break open and load a new chain-feed that Dan Zuru given him the order to dismount the MG and escape with it, which he did successfully, with his superior officer giving him covering fire.

Dan Zuru is said to have held his ground to the end to ensure that his men who were still alive had a chance to escape, and while the casualty toll on the enemy was reportedly heavy, the security team lost scores of men, as well as their trucks and motorcycles which were destroyed by enemy RPG fire.

The gallant Dan Zuru was in the end listed among those missing in action (MIAs).

May the supreme price you paid for our dear Benue State and the Nigerian fatherland not be in vain, O' Dear Patriot! ASP Danlamin Usman - Dan Zuru. Amin.

Tracking the Money Behind Yelewata’s Night of Fire
A TruthNigeria Special Investigation

On the night of 13–14 June 2025, the quiet Christian-majority farming community of Yelewata in Guma County, Benue State, was plunged into terror.

Waves of Muslim Fulani Ethnic Militia on motorbikes stormed the town, torching homes, shooting villagers, and forcing families into the bush. Scores of victims were forcibly locked into market stalls where they sought safety over the night. Many were then doused with fuel oil and burned to death, according to survivors interviewed by TruthNigeria.

A TruthNigeria Special Investigation throws light on the true cost in human lives on that day, and the likely cost to criminal funders of that operation and dozens of others like it.

The casualty undercount from Benue Gov. Hyacinth Alia was 59 dead only on June 16. International news agencies reported more than 100 people killed. Africa News reported 150 by June 18.

Open Doors estimated the death count as 218 just five days after the attack.

TruthNigeria’s investigation currently puts the death toll at over 270.

The Cost to Criminal Funders of the Yelewata Raid

“Attacks of this nature are rarely spontaneous,” said security analyst Samson Hezekiah, based in Makurdi. “These operations are carefully planned with military precision, often involving fighters from neighboring states and even neighboring countries.”

“The Yelewata massacre underscores that Nigeria’s militias are not ragtag bands—they operate like well-financed, mobile armies,” according to Okpani Ode Ohene, a retired police officer who spent years with Nigeria’s Financial Crimes Unit tracking terrorist funding.

According to TruthNigeria’s unique investigation based on open and confidential sources the estimated wages of the paid killers who murdered and tortured 270 citizens was approximately $167, which is 150 percent of the average monthly salary of a Nigerian civil servant.

Category Estimated Cost (₦) Notes

1. Fighter remuneration (150 men) ₦37.5m ≈₦250k each ($167 for one day), 4-hour engagement

2. Death benefits ₦1m – ₦2m Payouts to families of 2 slain fighters

3. Motorcycles ₦90m – ₦250m 50–100 units, high-powered & mid-range

4. Fuel & food ₦5m – ₦8m Travel + three days’ rations

5. Medical & logistics ₦3m – ₦5m Clinics, rear-area support

6. Total Estimate ₦136m – ₦302m ≈$185,000 – $411,000

Based on available intelligence, the most realistic midpoint estimate is around ₦219 million ($298,000).

A Calculated Operation.

Many attackers were not local to Benue. “Several of the men who stormed Yelewata had been engaged in a raiding mission along the Plateau State–Nasarawa border before being redirected,” security analyst Hezekiah explained.

“They travelled 150–200 miles on high-powered motorcycles, carrying both weapons and extra fuel. That fuel was later used to torch homes, shops, and refugee shelters in Yelewata.”

“These fighters are highly mobile,” he added. “The combination of speed, planning and local knowledge allows them to overwhelm towns even with police and military presence.”

Okpani Ode Ohene, a retired police officer who spent years with Nigeria’s Financial Crimes Unit tracking terrorist funding, explained the financial mechanics behind militia operations.“The AK-pattern rifles that flooded the Sahel after Libyan stockpiles were looted in 2011 have armed militias cheaply and effectively,” he said.

“Equipping 50 fighters with rifles can cost between ₦12.4 million – ₦66 million. Ammunition, at ₦825 – ₦3,300 per bullet, with 300 rounds per fighter, adds another ₦12.4 million – ₦49.5 million.”

He added: “AK-47s and ammunition can also be rented from conflict merchants in Niger and Chad or sourced locally through illegal fabricators. The ability to arm dozens of fighters with relatively modest investments demonstrates the efficiency of these networks.”

The Likely Cost of Bikers and Bikes.

“Motorcycles are central to these raids,” Hezekiah said. “They enable high-speed movement across rugged terrain. Heavy-duty models like the Military BSA and Harley-Davidson MT500 cost between ₦2.5–3 million ($3,400–$4,100) each. Assuming 50 high-end bikes, that alone totals over ₦137 million ($187,000). Mid-range bikes such as Bajaj and Boxer add another ₦100 million ($136,000).”

“Fighters are paid ₦150,000–₦300,000 each for operations,” Okpani said. “For over 150 fighters in Yelewata, that totals roughly ₦37.5 million ($51,000 at N735/USD). This is only one component; families of attackers killed during operations often receive compensation, adding further costs.”

Funding Beyond the Raid on June 13.

Contrary to the understanding of some U.S. government officials who spoke to TruthNigeria editors in early September, bloody raids continued on Yelewata in the months following the June 13 massacre, including a raid that killed three in the first week of August. Yelewata women blocked the highway demanding that Nigerian army leave and replaced by mobile policemen. TVC News covered the protest but referred to the killers as “bandits” in accordance with a longstanding Nigerian media convention masking the ethnicity of the Fulani ethnic militia.

Retired policeman Okpani was more transparent. “Fulani terrorists sustain operations through multiple funding channels,” Okpani explained. “Cattle rustling, kidnapping for ransom, and extortion of local communities are the main sources. Some groups profit from illegal mining or money laundering disguised as trade. Others exploit corruption within local and state governments. There are even reports of payments to secure hostages or military equipment.”

He also noted that sociocultural organizations of Fulani are also clandestinely involved in funding operations of these terrorists

“These multifaceted financial strategies make countering insurgency extremely complex,” Hezekiah added. “Militias are not ragtag bands—they are mobile, well-funded networks. Money, manpower and machinery combine to make these operations highly effective.”

Analysts said such funding allows militias to operate with strategic intent.

“It’s not just about weapons or bikes,” Okpani said. “Sustaining these networks requires continuous cash flow—for fuel, food, medical care, and sometimes even bribes to local officials. It’s a business as much as it is an insurgency.”

Scale of the Attack

Yelewata is not an easy target; the town has both military and police presence. Overpowering these defenses required more than 150 fighters, coordinated logistics, and significant financial backing, according to Hezekiah.

“From upfront fighter payments to the cost of high-powered motorcycles and fuel, each component points to a premeditated operation designed to inflict maximum damage,” Hezekiah said.

“The combination of manpower, money and machinery reflects a chilling level of coordination and premeditation,” he added.

Hezekiah concluded: “Understanding how these attacks are funded is critical. Without addressing the financial and systemic enablers, communities like Yelewata, a predominantly Christian town, remain highly vulnerable to assaults by armed Fulani militants, who are overwhelmingly Muslim.”

I didn’t grow up poor. My father was a pilot who later founded an aviation consulting firm. After schooling in Nigeria, I moved to Ghana and studied Mechanical Engineering at KNUST. At 23, I returned home to Nigeria and began working as a mechanical engineer with Schlumberger.

Music makes up just 20% of my earnings. Long before recognition, I was already an entrepreneur. I experimented with many ventures—club promotion, e-commerce, and other businesses. Today, I operate companies in 18 African countries.

Now at 34, I’m more than an artist. I’m also an entrepreneur and investor. Alongside my wife Temi, we are building businesses and driving impact. That’s why I always say, I’m more than music—I’m a businessman first.
