Hey Scribes, Happy New Week!
We know — this should have landed in your inbox earlier today.
But here’s the beautiful thing: the most nourishing words don’t always come with the sunrise. Sometimes, they arrive right when your heart is ready to hear them.
As you step into this week, I want to give you a gentle nudge to overcome one of the biggest creative challenges every writer faces — writer’s block.
Now, here’s the truth: writer’s block isn’t always about running out of ideas. Sometimes, it’s a signal to pause, realign, and listen. As faith-based writers, we have something extraordinary — the Holy Spirit as our co-Author. And when we lean into Him, the words flow differently.
Here are a few ways to do just that:
• Pray Before You Write
Don’t wrestle with the blank page on your own. Start with worship or prayer. Invite the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts and shape your words.
• Write Without Self-Criticism
Let go of the need for perfection on the first draft. You can refine later, but you can’t edit a page that doesn’t exist.
• Shift Your Atmosphere
Step outside, take a walk, or rearrange your writing space. Sometimes inspiration hides in a change of scenery.
• Draw from the Word
Choose a scripture and let it spark your next scene, poem, or devotional. Even one verse can unfold into something powerful.
• Serve Through Your Writing
Instead of thinking, I must write, ask, Who needs this? Writing with service in mind often melts away the block.
And remember — you don’t have to face this alone. At Written Scroll, our passion is helping Christian writers fulfil their God-given mandate through writing and publishing books that carry eternal impact. We are here to guide, equip, and walk with you as you bring the vision God has placed in your heart to life on the page.
