So recently, Facebook started suspending people’s accounts.
When they suspend the accounts, they ask you to appeal.
If you appeal, they release it back.
For most people, this is confusing. You don’t understand why it’s happening, but the account is yours.
Let me share with you what is going on.
As of last year, Facebook was sued by the Nigerian government.
The lawsuit was about the leak of Nigerian users’ data and failure to protect privacy.
The government demanded that Facebook pay fines and take stronger measures to secure users’ data.
Now, Facebook has settled with Nigeria.
Meta is currently working closely with the Nigerian Data Protection Council to enforce stricter online safety measures.
The goal?
To curb online fraud and know exactly who is using Facebook and other Meta apps in Nigeria.
Here’s how it works:
1️⃣ Accounts they can’t verify are asked to provide ID cards.
2️⃣ Your ID and face will be transmitted directly to the Nigerian Data Protection Council
3️⃣ Once your face is verified, you can get back in.
This is not ordinary verification.
They now map:
• Your face
• Your ID card
• Your NIN
• Your location
This helps them track you if necessary.
⚠️ Here’s what you need to know:
- If you engage in cyberbullying again in Nigeria, they can catch you, and you’re gone.
- Transparency on Facebook is increasing; profiles may now show users’ locations.
- Scamming people on Facebook and Instagram is no longer easy.
- Facebook is sharing verified data with the Nigerian government for accountability.
So, if you haven’t submitted your NIN before or done facial recognition, on facebook just wait.
Its batch by Batch you will get yours
One day, you might wake up and see that Facebook has suspended your account.
Prepare your mind and be careful.
Do not make mistakes if you want to avoid getting banned permanently.
Hope this helps
This is classified information though.
But you need to know what is going on behind the scenes
