☆Benue renewal☆
Facts.....not fiction.

Today we will talk about the civil service, pension and welfare issues.

HE, Fr. Alia inherited 12 to 17 months unpaid salaries for civil servants and 48 months unpaid pension accross board, the highest by any state in Nigeria. People who had retired three years ealier were not even captured/onboarded to the pension scheme. Benue State university and the Teaching hospital retirees were owed pension/gratuity for over 10 years ( yes, you got that right, 10 years) a situation that often triggered labor unrest in these institutions. Benue civil servants (levels 7 and above) were still on 18k minimum wage when the rest of the country had moved to 30k. Benue state university lecturers were owed earned allowances, promotion arrears from 2012 while hazard allowances due to doctors was pegged at a dismal 5k. (It's the reason there were only a total of 40 doctors left to manage 23 general hospitals in the state). Civil servants had stopped going to work regularly, the past government helplessly caved in, giving birth to Nigeria's first and only three day work week regime.
The Alia era.
All retired civil servants were immediately captured for pension increasing monthly pesion payout by more than 100%. Today Benue is the only state where a civil servant retires and walks away with his gratuity 100% and begins to recieve pension immediately. Every person that left service since May 2023 has been paid their gratuity 100%. Only one month arears of unpaid salaries is owed to civil servants while pension arrears is being rolled back gradually. The government is also addressing backlog of gratuity owed retired employees despite ongoing garneshee challenges.
More than 15 Billion Naira has been spent on accumulated arrears of workers of Benue State university ( now Fr. Adasu University). There is now a bond scheme for doctors where every willing clinical medical student from Benue is on the state's monthly payroll. Youth corpers are encouraged to come to Benue as they recieve a monthy stipend from the state. HE, Fr.Alia increased minimum wage first to 30k and then again to 75k and implemented this across the entire workforce well above the country's average. Over Nine thousand primary school teachers were recruited and trained within the period as over 500 schools were also renovated. Let me not forget the successful renovation of the state secretariat, teaching hospital and several ministries departments and agencies. Long withheld promotions of staff have been implemented and speedy implementation of long outstanding issues with labor unions dispensed with.

Changing the face of governance in Benue, facts.......

PRESS CONFERENCE DELIVERED BY THE ASSOCIATION OF ALL LOCAL GOVERNMENT VICE CHAIRMEN OF NIGERIA, (ALGOVC), BENUE STATE CHAPTER.

PROTOCOL:

THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF BENUE STATE, HIS EXCELLENCY, CHIEF REV. FR. DR. HYACINTH IORMEM ALIA, THE ASORTAR U TIV,
DISTINGUISHED HONOURABLE COLLEAGUES,
GENTLEMEN OF THE PRESS,
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.

GOOD EVENING.

We have convened this press conference today on behalf of the Association of All Local Government Vice Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGOVC), Benue State Chapter, to reaffirm our support for the administration of the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia.

As Vice Chairmen of the 23 Local Government Areas of Benue State, we express our profound appreciation to the Governor for finding us worthy to deputize our principals in the various councils. This gesture of trust and magnanimity is unprecedented and deeply acknowledged.

We also appreciate our respective Chairmen for the cordial working relationships we have enjoyed since assuming our various offices as Deputy Chairmen.

It would amount to gross ingratitude and indiscipline if we fail to commend Governor Alia for his unwavering commitment to strengthening local government administration. By creating an enabling environment for councils to function effectively in line with the principles of local government autonomy, he has set a new standard for governance at the grassroots.

This commitment has translated into tangible achievements across the 23 Local Government Areas. Notable among them is the award of contracts for the construction of five-kilometre roads in various councils — projects that many of our communities are enjoying for the first time since the return of democracy in 1999.

On this basis, we are convinced to call on the good people of Benue State to re-elect our workaholic Governor, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, in 2027. We urge all Benue citizens to vote massively for the Governor to enable him to consolidate and deliver even greater achievements for our state and local communities.

It is our firm belief and resolve that with the foundation the Governor has laid for the people of Benue State, greater heights still await us. Within just three years, His Excellency has transformed the outlook of the state to meet national standards. Things we never imagined possible are today our reality and source of pride.

We therefore pledge our unalloyed support and solidarity to the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia. To our principals, who are also the Governor’s immediate representatives at the grassroots, we restate that we have no reason to deviate from our mandate. As grassroot mobilizers, we will deploy all our strength to mobilize every Benue citizen toward the re-election of the Governor in 2027.

Thank you.

LONG LIVE BENUE STATE
LONG LIVE HIS EXCELLENCY, THE GOVERNOR
LONG LIVE OUR LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREAS
LONG LIVE OUR COUNCIL CHAIRMEN
LONG LIVE THE DEPUTY CHAIRMEN

THANK YOU ALL.

Tinubu’s Economic Reforms Fuel Benue’s Transformation - Alia.

Wednesday, July 8, 2026

Governor Hyacinth Alia has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for demonstrating the courage and political will to undertake far‑reaching economic reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria’s economy for long term sustainability.

The governor made the remarks today at the State House Press Gallery during a press conference themed “The Impact of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Economic Reforms on Benue State.”

Alia praised the Tinubu administration’s consistent partnership with subnational governments in implementing its reform agenda. He said Benue State, like other subnational entities, has seen improved fiscal inflows that have enhanced the state’s capacity to revive its economy, execute development projects and meet critical obligations.

He explained that his administration has prudently deployed available resources toward critical infrastructure, security support, education, healthcare, agriculture and rural development, pointing to ongoing road construction, rehabilitation, urban renewal and other key projects across the state.

The governor emphasized that increased revenue has given Benue greater opportunity to tackle longstanding infrastructural deficits, including the resuscitation of moribund industries and the establishment of new ones. He cited Food Basket Breweries, Bensono Juice and Concentrate Factory as examples of enterprises the administration has invested in, and added that Taraku Mills Ltd is also undergoing revival.

Alia said improved revenue has strengthened his government’s ability to meet salary obligations and address workers’ welfare concerns, noting efforts to clear inherited liabilities and improve conditions for civil servants and pensioners.

On security, he acknowledged President Tinubu’s responsiveness to the state’s needs, saying the increased resources have enabled Benue to better support security agencies with logistics, mobility and intelligence gathering.

While reaffirming his administration’s commitment to accountability, value for money and prudent public‑resource management, Governor Alia called on residents to join him in building a stronger, safer and more prosperous Benue State.
