The Defence Chief briefed journalists in Yelewata, saying, “In every society, including the military, there are always people who compromise. I promise to meet with the commanders and find ways to change our strategies.

“In my estimation, it is one killing too many. We’re here to ensure that we address such. From here, I’m going to see my commanders, and we are going to change our strategies to look inwards and see how we can address this. We cannot do it alone without the community.”

This thing happening in Benue, my state, has become a national emergency. I can't wrap my head around it, I'm speechless... It just has to stop! It's becoming ridiculous and unfair.

We keep calling on our governor and president, but nothing happens.
It has gone beyond verbal condemnations and consolations, we need actions.
Our leaders are focused on looting and re-election.

I'm calling on all stakeholders in Benue state, we need to come together to fight this menace, to fight for our people. We can't keep weeping behind closed doors.

This is me in Benue state 2019/2020. I can remember how peaceful and the warmth I felt around the people. The don’t call it FOOD BASKET OF THE NATION for nothing as I remember how I spent less than N200 naira for breakfast that year even when things were already scaling.

An appeal court has lifted the lid on the ex-CBN governor, Emefiele's annual salary and allowances, showing he could afford the seized housing units and other assets.

In the ruling, the appellate court held that Emefiele's income history was sufficient cause for the properties not to be forfeited.

The court document listed his income and assets to include:
• Annual salary of N350 million.
• Quarterly reimbursements of N75 million (amounting to N300 million annually).
• Estacode payments of $6,285,000 for foreign trips.

The court thus set aside the ruling of the Federal High Court and ordered a fresh retrial.
