That’s where hierarchy comes in.

Hierarchy simply means guiding the viewer’s eye,
telling them what to look at first, second, and last.

Without it, everything competes for attention and nothing stands out.

But when hierarchy is done right, your design becomes clear, structured, and easy to understand.

Here’s how to apply hierarchy in your design:

• Make your main message the biggest and most visible

• Use font sizes to show importance
• Use bold or color to highlight key information
• Keep supporting text smaller and simple
• Don’t make everything loud, let one element lead

Think of it like a conversation,
not everyone should talk at the same time.

Your design should “speak” in order.

As a designer, I’ve learned that a good design isn’t just about looking nice,
it’s about guiding attention.

Here’s a flyer design I created for a dry cleaning service.

When working on this project, my goal was simple:
create a clean, modern design that builds trust instantly.

I used blue to represent freshness, reliability, and cleanliness
while white keeps the design minimal, neat, and professional.

For the typography, I chose a sans-serif font to ensure clarity and easy readability at a glance.

Not crowded.

Just clean, clear, and professional.

Here’s the truth:
Clean design is not about adding more —
it’s about knowing what to remove.

Most times, the problem isn’t your creativity.
It’s the lack of structure.

Here’s what actually makes a design look modern:

• Proper spacing (give your elements room to breathe)
• Consistent alignment (everything should feel connected)
• Clear hierarchy (guide the viewer’s eyes)
• Limited colors & fonts (keep it simple)

That’s it.

No magic. No secret tool.

Just intentional design decisions.

I used to think adding more elements would make my design better…
