Dear SouthSouth Farmer and Investor, I am one of those that believe our region has certain advantages beyond oil exploration, and it's time we focus on our unique advantages, with a region blessed with tropical rainforest, we should take agroforestry more seriously and reap the unending dividends it provides. Some years ago, I studied the Niger Delta regional development plan for agriculture, it was fascinating that a good number of crops were listed but sadly our government had not given enough attention to that document to implement, so I believe the private sector and rural farmers can exploit this loop, to increase the profitability of their ventures. Most Northern states that cultivate sugarcane do it with artificial irrigation, the SouthSouth region does not need artificial irrigation, in fact we need excess flood control, hence sugarcane can be farmed in large acreage since the uses are enormous and highly profitable
Sugarcane is primarily processed to produce sugar, however, it results in three key by-products: bagasse, molasses and filter muds. Each one of these has several uses but what they are most
commonly used on depends on what is most desirable in the economical sense.
Ethanol can also be produced from sugarcane, which is an alcohol made by fermenting the sugar and starch components of plant materials using yeast.
Ethanol can be used for food products but is also used as a biofuel.
Bio-ethanol can be used in its pure form but is commonly added to gasoline to reduce vehicle emissions.
As we prepare grounds for the SOUTHSOUTH COCONUT HUB, sugarcane will be one of the crops we will use to intercrop the coconut to maximize the land.
Other common annual intercrops that could be grown during the pre-bearing or early stage of growth of the coconut are: dry land paddy, maize, millets, groundnut, cowpea, chillies, wheat, potato, tuber crops and rhizomatous crops like ginger and tumeric will also be cultivated
We are taking field appointments for October and November 2024,
for consultation and purchase of early fruiting and healthy coconut seedlings, call or send a message to 07087874482
