PARENTS AND INTENDING PARENTS PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.
I know many of us as African parents are often too busy to read long posts, but please read this if you are a parent or planning to become one someday.
Whether we like it or not, there is a serious and intentional push of sexual content everywhere today. Open an app, scroll through social media, watch a movie trailer, or even play a simple game, and suddenly something seductive appears on the screen. Not because you searched for it, but because the world is aggressively feeding it to people every single day.
Recently, I tried opening my notebook app and a very seductive advert popped up with almost no option to skip it immediately. I had to shut down the whole thing entirely. That moment made me think deeplyโฆ
If this can happen to me as an adult with understanding and self control, then imagine what your 15 year old child with unrestricted internet access is secretly battling with every day.
Many children are fighting silent battles their parents know nothing about.
Po*******hy addiction,Masturbation,Sexual perversion,Premature exposure,Corrupted thinking and the rest of them.
Even childrenโs movies like the screenshot attached to this post are no longer entirely innocent, many of them comes with hidden sexual jokes, suggestive dressing, romantic pressure, and inappropriate scenes whic are gradually shaping young minds. What used to be considered abnormal is now packaged as โnormal entertainment.โ for our younger ones.
This is one of the major reasons why i have not even mounted my television till now. Am not trying to say tgat watching television is evil, but I understand the effects of screen addition and what it means to protect the atmosphere around my children.
Raising a Godly, disciplined, and mentally sound child in this generation is serious a warfare oooo. the social media is taking our young ones more serious than we do.
As parents, we must become intentional again.
Watch what enters your home by all means,Watch what enters your childrenโs minds,Pay attention to what they laugh at repeatedly, pay attention to what they normalize easily, pay attention to the kind of influencers raising them online while you are busy trying to survive.
The internet is educating children every day whether parents participate or not.
Please: Talk to your children, Pray with them, Teach them values,Create safe conversations so they can speak openly without fear,Monitor devices wisely, not violently. Do not allow social media to become their primary teacher or best companion.
A child may look quiet and innocent outside while battling dangerous addictions privately.
Parenting in this generation requires prayer, wisdom, presence, and intentionality.
Protect your children. Guide your children. Train your children.
Because if parents do not intentionally shape their children, the internet gladly will.
